This article contains spoilers from One Piece.
At this point, it is no secret that One Piece is getting a new anime, and that it is being produced by Wit Studio. When it was first announced that One Piece is getting a new anime, fans were sceptical. There were some who were confused as to why One Piece was getting another anime when it already had one being produced by Toei Animation. Others thought it was just another cash grab.
One Piece Finally Reveals The Next Level Of Haki
Advanced Haki isn't the final step. Oda reveals a level of mastery beyond that in One Piece.
However, almost 2 years later, the new One Piece anime by Wit Studio is still considered in development, and it is clear that this is a passion project. One Piece is the greatest manga of all time, but the anime for it does not live up to the expectations. It desperately needs a better anime and that is why Wit Studio's One Piece will fix the biggest flaws that it has, and those are centred around its pacing and the animation quality.
Wit Studio's One Piece Anime Will Fix The Pacing Forever
Wit Studio's One Piece animation is going to be absolutely spectacular. Fans have previously seen glimpses of the production committee, and the amount of focus they're putting into the small details goes to show that this is a product of love that will be absolutely splendid, potentially even the best anime out there.
The mysteries of the world, I'll draw them all in the Final Saga. — Eiichiro Oda, One Piece
The fact that it is taking so long to produce is proof that this anime is going to be absolutely huge. But, it doesn't need to be spectacular in all departments. Truthfully speaking, One Piece only needs to improve in two particular departments and if this new anime fixes those two things, it will already be perfect.
The biggest flaw of One Piece that the new anime by Wit Studio is going to fix is the pacing. The pacing of the current One Piece anime is absolutely horrendous. It adapts one chapter per episode sometimes, and in the past, has even adapted half a chapter, or less, on occasions. Some episodes had as long as 6 minutes of recap, and that just can't be acceptable in the modern day. The pacing for Wit Studio's One Piece anime is going to be far better and it will most likely adapt three to four chapters per episode, and will consist of smaller seasons, potentially of 24 to 26 episodes.
Wit Studio's The One Piece Will Also Enhance The Animation
Another major aspect of One Piece that Wit Studio's anime adaptation is officially going to fix is the animation. Now, it would be unfair to say that One Piece does not have beautiful animation right now. However, even then, every once in a while, there comes an episode that is mediocre.
The anime is its own thing. — Eiichiro Oda
18 Years Ago, Eiichiro Oda Already Revealed How Imu Can Be Defeated In One Piece
Imu seems invincible, but they have one fatal weakness in One Piece.
But, more importantly, One Piece had a stretch of episodes that were quite clearly subpar, such as the run from Fishman Island all the way to Dressrosa. Some of these episodes featured extremely bad animation. The product that Wit Studio will deliver will be far more consistent.
One Piece Will Be A Flawless Anime After The Wit Adaptation Drops
As it is practically confirmed that the Wit Studio’s version of One Piece will be far better when it comes to pacing and animation, and that it pays incredible attention to detail, it is already a given that this anime will be a flawless masterpiece. Added to that is the fact that it will feature a modern sound design and not clunky sound effects from 40 years ago that Toei Animation is still using.
It will also not feature as much censorship if it stays true to Oda's vision, and that is another incredible plus point to consider. In every single way, it is going to be a massive upgrade on what fans have right now, and it will be the perfect adaptation that One Piece deserves.
Eiichiro Oda's One Piece will be featured in this week's Weekly Shonen Jump Issue. The official release date of One Piece Chapter 1167 is November 30, 2025. In Japan, One Piece drops at 12AM JST on Monday, which is 11:00 AM EST, or 8:00 AM PT. Fans can read the chapter for free on Manga Plus and the Shonen Jump apps.
