Since the reveal, Wit Studio has not shared too many details about the remake, leaving fans rather anxious. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem that the remake is coming out anytime soon, but Wit Studio's next project is about to hit the streaming sites soon.

Wit Studio's Next Project Is Not One Piece

Fans may be curious as to what Wit Studio has been working on, if not One Piece. Well, the answer is Agents of the Four Seasons, a fantasy anime based on the work of Kana Akatsuki and Suoh. The two previously worked on Violet Evergarden, a critically acclaimed series. Naturally, fans who have watched Violet Evergarden know about its quality, which is why they're extremely excited to see Agents of the Four Seasons. Fans who haven't read the web novel or the manga won't be familiar with the work, so they can read the summary below to get an idea of what the anime is going to be about.

Agents of the Four Seasons is set in a fantasy world, where certain human beings are endowed with special powers to control the seasons. The anime will delve into the story of the agents located in Japan and their bodyguards. Agents of the Four Seasons will also cover the disappearance of the person responsible for the Spring season and their rescue.

The plot of the anime certainly looks interesting, but only time will tell if it will be good enough to keep fans on the edge of their seats. At the moment, an exact release date has not been shared, but it has been confirmed as a part of the Spring 2026 lineup. So it will most likely start airing in April 2026.

One Piece Remake Release Is Still A Few Years Away

  • One Piece remake is being produced by Wit Studio
  • The anime has no release date yet

Returning to the One Piece remake, it seems rather unlikely to be released in 2026 or even in 2027. Wit Studio has not shared a new trailer or even a key visual for that matter of the One Piece remake, which implies the project is far from ready. Wit Studio shared some designs of the Straw Hats and the islands that they visited in the East Blue region. Aside from that, there has been complete silence regarding the remake's progress. Fans were optimistic about receiving some kind of update during Jump Festa 2026 but were yet again let down. The next big event where the One Piece remake could feature is the One Piece Day. But for now, fans should stop thinking about the remake.

Why The One Piece Anime Remake Was Needed

one piece anime remake by wit studio is not releasing soon

One of the main criticisms associated with the remake was that it was not needed when the original anime hadn't ended. Some fans wanted Wit Studio to focus on other titles that were in more need of an anime adaptation. However, the president of Wit Studio confirmed that the remake served an important purpose –to make it easier for newcomers to watch the One Piece anime. It is no secret that the One Piece anime had terrible pacing, especially in the arcs, which resulted in the episodes being dragged out, which put off many potential fans.

They couldn't bear to watch a 20-minute episode that didn't even cover one chapter of the manga. Almost all popular anime adapt 2–3 chapters into an episode, which is why viewers have no trouble at all sitting through them. The remake is going to resolve the issue by making episodes that have better pacing. It will reduce the number of episodes required to catch up to the story, which in turn will help attract more fans, as they will no longer be intimidated by the prospect of watching over 1100 episodes.

The One Piece Remake Will Solve A Lot Of Problems

Wit Studio's One Piece remake will also improve upon the animation and make it more watchable for modern-day audiences. Once again, it's important to mention that Toei Animation only fixed the animation after the series entered the Wano Country, and since then, it has maintained the quality. Wit Studio's goal is to create an adaptation that will have stellar animation from start to finish. All these things prove that the One Piece remake isn't superfluous and is actually needed.
