Summary

  • The One Punch Man manga series is going on a long hiatus, as confirmed by Yusuke Murata on X.
  • The manga underwent constant redraws in the Ninja Village arc, so another long delay is sad news for many fans.
  • However, fans expect the series to deliver a better story arc after returning from the hiatus.

The One Punch Man manga has become incredibly popular not only because of the quirky nature of overpowered Saitama but also because of the outstanding art by Yusuke Murata. Murata has done a commendable job with the digital remake of the story penned by ONE (Tomohiro). The art from Murata in OPM is beyond spectacular, and almost every chapter of the series astonishes fans with its art.

The perfection that each chapter of One Punch Man so proudly flaunts is precisely why Murata tends to follow a bi-weekly release schedule on Young Jump. That being said, this "perfection" comes at a heavy price, as the manga tends to go through several redraws, thus delaying the new chapters for several weeks. The redraws are so common that OPM fans are accustomed to not getting a new chapter, even with the bi-weekly release schedule. However, it seems like the community will have to wait even longer for the upcoming chapter, as Murata has recently confirmed yet another hiatus, a rather long one this time.

One Punch Man Manga Is Going On A Two-Month-Long Hiatus

Yusuke Murata Gave Fans The Sad News On X

The One Punch Man manga series was stuck on the redraws of the Ninja Village arc for more than a year, but Murata finally concluded that arc earlier this month. The Ninja Village arc went through the "redraw" phase for the third time, and since it finally concluded, fans have been waiting to see the new chapter of the manga series. Sadly, though, Murata recently confirmed on X that, due to "some circumstances," the manga is going on a two-month-long hiatus. This means that fans will have to wait until July 17, 2025, to witness what the artist has planned for the next chapter.

Murata hasn't given fans the exact reason for this hiatus, but most fans understand why the artist wants to take a break. Keeping the art and redraws aside, t he Ninja Village arc wasn't exactly a good story point of the series. So, the community expects ONE and Murata to deliver a better story arc once the manga returns from hiatus. Obviously, a year-long loop of redraws was frustrating for many fans, but now that the story can actually advance and move past Ninja Village, fans expect ONE and Murata to use this break efficiently and plan out a stronger story arc.

Sorry for keeping you waiting. Due to various circumstances, the next update for the Tona Jump version of One Punch Man will be on Thursday, July 17th. We apologize for the inconvenience, but please wait a little longer.

There was a time when One Punch Man manga broke the internet with Saitama and Garou's fight. The community couldn't stop talking about the artistic manga panels of the entire fight. However, fans think the series went downhill with the Ninja Village arc. In fact, the constant cycle of redraws made many think that the manga was already on hiatus. Regardless, this two-month-long hiatus could actually be a good thing for the manga. Not only will it help build anticipation among fans for the next chapter, but it will also give ONE and Murata enough time to plan out much bigger and better things for the subsequent story arc.

What's Happening With One Punch Man Anime?

Similar to the manga series, the anime adaptation of One Punch Man has also become incredibly popular. Madhouse did a phenomenal job with the first season with its fluid and crisp animation; however, the animation didn't pack the same kind of punch when J.C. Staff took over Season 2 of the anime series.

While the anime adaptation went through a difficult phase and remained absent from our screens for over six years, it's finally confirmed to return in October 2025. J.C. Staff, the studio that worked on the second season, is taking back control of OPM and has been working on the third season.

Atsushi Fujishiro, the producer at J.C. Staff, confirmed that the studio has been working hard on Season 3 and that they are committed to delivering a season that "won't disappoint." Anyway, the anime is only a few months away from its release, so we will soon see if the studio lives up to their promise.
