Grounded 2 features an expanded survival playground, filled with new locations to discover, resources to harvest, and bugs to squash. However, this experience can turn sour really quickly if the game isn't performing according to your expectations. Since Grounded 2 launched in early access, players can expect the game to have optimization issues, which can cause it to perform poorly on most PCs. However, this guide will help you optimize some of the settings in-game to give you a playable experience until a performance patch drops.
Best Settings for Grounded 2 on PC
Grounded 2 does not give players many settings to work with when it comes to turning on the graphical quality and adjusting performance. The display tab mostly has some basic settings, alongside a static preset for visuals, which will decide the overall quality of the game. Let's check out the best settings you can use to increase performance.

Best Preset |
Notes |
|---|---|---|
|
Window Mode |
Borderless Fullscreen |
If you're experiencing a loss of FPS due to Borderless Fullscreen, try switching to normal Fullscreen mode. |

Render Scale |
Depends on Resolution |
1080P: 80%, 1440P: 65%, 4k: 50% (will be explained later) |
|
Quality |
Medium |
There aren't any graphics settings to tune here, so you'll have to settle for an overall preset for now. |
|
Frame Rate Limit |
60 or 120 FPS |

Depth of Field |
Personal Preference |
It does not impact the overall performance much. |
|
V-Sync |
Off |
You can turn this on if you've capped your FPS at 60. |
|
Motion Blur |
Off |

|
Chromatic Aberration |
On |
It does not impact the FPS, but adds an aesthetic filter to the visuals. |
|
Field of View |
80-90 |
Increasing your FOV will impact Grounded 2's overall performance. It's best to keep the slider between 80 and 90 FOV for a smooth experience. |
Now, since we've lowered the Render Scale to less than 100%, the game won't be rendered at full resolution, which will increase FPS. However, it'll make this a bit blurry, so I suggest you head inside AMD Settings or Nvidia Control Panel, and increase the sharpness of the game to about 40-50%. Since sharpening does not impact the game's performance, your visual quality will be restored for the most part, and FPS will be increased as well.
This is suggested due to the lack of any upscaling options in the game, i.e., Nvidia DLSS or AMD FSR. If these get added to the game down the line, feel free to crank up your Render Scale back to 100%. These best settings and the workaround will let players enjoy Grounded 2 at a good FPS in both indoor and outdoor areas.
