There are a lot of new features in The Outer Worlds 2 compared to the original The Outer Worlds. One of the best changes in the sequel is the addition of pets in Outer Worlds 2, which will occupy a special area of The Incognito once unlocked.

To complete In Pursuit of Purloined Propaganda, Outer Worlds 2 players must locate all ten copies of Science Adventures Quarterly in Paradise.

There are a lot of pets you can get in Outer Worlds 2 – if you unlock five pets, you'll get an achievement! This guide explains how to get pets in Outer Worlds 2, including how to get the Premium Sprat pet, and details where you can swap your current pet.

How to Get Pets in Outer Worlds 2

Outer Worlds 2 Get Pets Protectorate Wisp

There are three main ways to get pets in Outer Worlds 2: by completing missions that reward pets, by purchasing pets from certain vendors throughout Arcadia, or by purchasing the Premium Edition of Outer Worlds 2.

Outer Worlds 2 Get Pets Premium Edition Sprat
  • If you purchase the Premium edition of Outer Worlds 2, you will be able to summon a unique Sprat pet automatically after acquiring your first other pet.
Outer Worlds 2 Get Pets Lucy Crabble
  • Early in the game, you can get a Crabble pet at the Crabble Ranch to the south of the landing pad on Paradise.
    • Here, the rancher is having trouble with a crabble named Lucy, who's had too much of Auntie's Choice's flagship product Purpleberry Krunch and appears ill.
    • Use your skills to help nurse it back to health, and it will thank you by offering to become a pet on the Incognito.
Outer Worlds 2 Get Pets Quartermaster Automech
  • At the Euphoria Coast Automech Repair Center, you can purchase a Hover Drone pet from the Quartermaster Automech vendor.
    • First, you'll have to help fix the malfunctioning automated vendor by talking to it.
    • Once you have access to the Quartermaster Automech's trading inventory, you can purchase the Hover Drone for 1,000 Bits.

Throughout the game, check every vendor and complete every side quest to earn every pet in Outer Worlds 2. The further you get into the game, the more expensive (and more exotic) pets will become.

How to Change Pet in Outer Worlds 2

Outer Worlds 2 Get Pets Change Pet

To change pets in Outer Worlds 2, head onto The Incognito and, from the departure door, go into the hallway on the left, then turn right. You'll find a crafting table here alongside a Pet Feeder. Interact with the Pet Feeder, and you will see a full list of your unlocked pets.

Select a new pet, confirm your choice, then exit the Pet Feeder menu. Whichever pet was out before will disappear and be replaced with your selected pet.

If the Premium Edition has been purchased, Outer Worlds 2 players will see the Premium Sprat in this list.

However, you cannot change pets in Outer Worlds 2 until you acquire at least one other pet from the world – go for Lucy, the crabble, to unlock the Premium Edition Sprat pet faster.
