The Outer Worlds 2 gives players the choice to approach situations in different ways. Whether it's a conversation with an NPC or siding with one character or another for a main quest, you're given the freedom to make your protagonist a mirror image of your own morality and decision-making. Sometimes, though, the choices you can make are locked behind acquiring different bits of information or skill checks. One useful item is Savannah's Journal, which might not immediately seem important on the surface but can help to sway a major decision later in the main storyline. In this guide, I'll explain how to get Savannah's Journal in The Outer Worlds 2, and explain what it's used for.
Outer Worlds 2: Should You Trust Auntie's Choice or Order of the Ascendant?
Two major factions in Outer Worlds 2 are Auntie's Choice, a capitalist corporation, and the Order of the Ascendant, a group of mathematical zealots.
How to Get Savannah's Journal in The Outer Worlds 2
Savannah's Journal can be obtained by going to the Excogitation Chapel and using the pickpocket perk on Savannah Lockwood.
The Excogitation Chapel can be found just northeast of Fairfield on Paradise Island (the first location you'll find yourself in after the opening mission). You may have already unlocked a fast travel point for the chapel if you've advanced along the main questline and have dealt with the Vox Relay already.
Once you've found the Excogitation Chapel, you'll find Savannah sitting down towards the back of the chapel. You'll need to talk with her to complete the 'Stalking an Associate of Angry Ascendance' side quest, but before you do so, jump over the back of the bench that she's sitting on. If you've not already got it, make sure you have the Pickpocket perk. This can be purchased with one perk point as long as you have your Lockpick skill at level 1.
Facing Savannah, press X on Xbox, Square on PlayStation, or E on PC to pickpocket her. You can now take Savannah's Journal from her and read it for more information on De Vries.
If you've already reached a point in the main questline that involves you confronting De Vries, then Savannah will have left the chapel.
What Is Savannah's Journal Used For in Outer Worlds 2?
An Important Piece of the De Vries Puzzle
Savannah's Journal is then used to get some additional information on De Vries when you confront Savannah in the 'Stalking an Associate of Angry Ascendance' quest. If you were unable to hack the terminal in De Vries' house, you can use her journal to get her to admit to knowing De Vries.
Later in the conversation with Savannah, you'll also want to use the 'Seem like knowing her was unsettling for you' option, as this also gives you information needed for a dialogue check involving De Vries later in the main questline. Without these bits of information, it's not possible to get the 'best' outcome in the main quest involving De Vries.
