As you come towards the end of the 'The Saboteur of Paradise' main quest in The Outer Worlds 2, you'll have the chance to redirect the Vox Relay from its current destination of Fairfield. Leaving the control panel as is will cause the relay to crash into the town, but there is a chance to divert its route and send it to either Westport or straight into space instead. The problem is, what's the best option? In this guide, I'll explain which you should choose and what happens if you send the Vox Relay to each of the three locations in The Outer Worlds 2.

The Outer Worlds 2's game director reveals why a staple RPG feature is missing from Obsidian's upcoming title.

Should You Choose to Send the Vox Relay to Fairfield, Westport, or Space in The Outer Worlds 2?

The best destination to send the Vox Relay to in The Outer Worlds 2 is into space. By doing this, you'll prevent either of the two places on Paradise Island — Fairfield and Westport — from getting destroyed by the Vox Relay crashing into them.

This is the best option because it means that you'll have vendors and NPCs available in both Fairfield and Westport for you to interact with should you want to come back to Paradise Island once you're done with this main quest.

By saving Fairfield, you'll also prevent everyone there from dying (always a bonus). It also ensures that your reputation remains intact with Auntie's Choice for managing to save Fairfield, and your companion, Inez, won't hate and leave you. While you can't influence your reputation with the Protectorate, keeping Westport safe allows you to return there if you want to.

Sending the Vox Relay into space simply allows you to complete the main quest without making a decision that has a detrimental effect on Paradise Island itself, and Inez will be completely fine with it. However, it's worth noting that to do this, you'll need to have at least one Bypass Shunt, and have increased your Hacking skill to level four before interacting with the Vox Secure Connection Interface to send the Vox Relay into space.

If you don't have a bypass shunt or your 'Hack' skill at level four, you'll need to choose one of the two destinations. Given that Fairfield has more to offer you in terms of facilities and potential side quests, I'd recommend you send it to Westport. It's by no means the ideal solution, but the second-best option.

There is also an option of 'See if hitting it does anything' that requires the 'Lucky' trait to use. I've not been able to verify what happens if you select this, but as soon as I have any information, I'll update this post and let you know.
