The Outer Worlds was one of the best RPG releases of 2019, delivering a Fallout-esque sci-fi role-playing game to a world that had been deprived of a solo Fallout experience since 2015. It brings the player to the far-off star system known as Halcyon which has been carved up by predatory corporations, leaving a dangerous string of colonies eternally on the brink of disaster. As incredible as this Obsidian Entertainment RPG was, there is always room for improvement, and players often pick up on things that were overlooked on the road to a game's launch.
As a result, a player can come up with their own way of improving the game for themselves specifically. That's where mods come in. The Outer Worlds enjoys incredible modding support that has made the game a blast to play through in every way. Players who want to tweak the experience of playing this game as much as possible will love the changes brought about by the many mods that players can download for the game.
The Outer Worlds - Where To Find The Holographic Shroud (& How To Use It)
Disguising yourself with the Holographic Shroud makes The Outer Worlds a lot easier, so here's how to find this incredibly useful item.
Updated May 6, 2024 by Ritwik Mitra: The Outer Worlds is a brilliant sci-fi game by Obsidian Entertainment. While the lower budget for this title prevented it from reaching the same level of quality as Fallout: New Vegas, players who understood the reigned-in scope and focus of this game loved what it brought to the table. With a sequel to this title officially announced, fans can't wait to check out a new chapter in this sci-fi series that is bound to be engaging in every way. Until then, players can always revisit the original game with a few mods to make things more engaging than ever before. The game can be molded in their image to make a new playthrough a blast.
1 No Fall Damage

Fall damage is the bane of any player's existence. Many try to bite off more than they can chew, and end up being punished as a result. Since The Outer Worlds is an open-world game, it's easy to see why some jumps can be fatal for players who don't gauge the distance properly. This mechanic is meant to ensure that players don't explore areas without traversing certain areas properly, but is still an annoyance regardless.
With this mod, fall damage is almost completely removed, making it more satisfying to explore the open world without worrying about lost health. The best part about this mod is that a fall from fatal heights will still kill the player, balancing things without making existing fall damage a pain to deal with.
2 Weapons Overhaul - Combat Rebalance

The combat in The Outer Worlds is one of the major pillars of gameplay. The gunplay is crunchy, the feedback is pretty solid, and the additional abilities that players can employ make combat engaging. However, there are some players who have modded the game and overhauled the weapons to make them more satisfying to fire.
The best thing this mod does is improve all weapons in the game to make them more satisfying to use. This is especially true for the Unique and Science weapons, incentivizing players to experiment with their arsenal instead of relying on what's reliable and easy to understand. Weapons also have additional mod slots to make them more dynamic in combat, which is always welcome.
3 Infinite TTD

Players familiar with the VATS system in the Fallout games will be more than glad to see this time slowdown mechanics replicated in The Outer Worlds under a different name. Tactical Time Dilation is a nice way to slow down the action and let players target any enemy's weak spots without facing too many problems.
The Outer Worlds: Best Starting Aptitudes To Choose
Many choices go into building this character, but the earliest is among the most important.
Of course, TTD is capped so that players don't use it to trivialize every combat situation in the game. However, players who have already seen everything this game has to offer can download a mod that enables infinite Tactical Time Dilation in the game. It's completely game-breaking, but something that players would love to enjoy if they want to turn the game's combat into a complete power fantasy.
4 Extended Level Cap

Level caps are something any player would dread to hit, and fans of The Outer Worlds are no outsiders in this regard. Players who dread reaching the level cap can use a mod to remove this limitation from the game.
Sure, the title's balance may be thrown out of the window in the endgame, but players won't mind as long as they're rewarded for exploring and accomplishing everything it has to offer. For what it's worth, only the most hardcore players will reach the level cap, so people more inclined towards finishing the main story and a few side quests should be okay in this department.
5 Lower Tinker Cost

It's important to improve a player's gear so they can tackle the many combat scenarios in The Outer Worlds without breaking a sweat. However, upgrading (or tinkering, as the game calls it) can become expensive after a point.
This can discourage players from even bothering with this system and just cycle out old weapons for new ones instead. With this mod, players have more of an incentive to tinker with their gear if a particular piece of equipment strikes their fancy.
6 Weapons With Mod Slots

Mod slots are rare in the weapons of The Outer Worlds, making weapons that feature the same all the more valuable. However, players who want to just enjoy a power fantasy instead of micromanaging their weapons wouldn't mind a mod that enhances the number of mod slots these pieces of equipment have.
The Outer Worlds 2: Characters That Should Make A Comeback
Here's who could make a return to the cast of characters in The Outer Worlds 2.
This mod is pretty self-explanatory and adds the number of mods that players can add to a melee or ranged weapon. Suffice it to say, combat becomes more engaging and players have an incentive to seek out as many weapon mods as possible.
7 No-Intro Videos Fix

Just like most modern games, The Outer Worlds features numerous intro videos that feature the publisher, developer, and other pertinent information before moving on to letting players check out the game. Suffice it to say, this can prove irritating for obvious reasons, especially if players don't have too much time to spar.
So many games have these unskippable intros that players have constantly added simple mods to remove these videos and let players jump into the action without any breaks whatsoever. The No-Intro Videos Fix mod for The Outer Worlds achieves exactly that, letting players jump into the game without having to wait any longer than necessary
8 TOW Skills Buffs Boosted

There are many skills that players can unlock in the game, courtesy of the RPG elements. These skills allow players to specialize in certain segments and roleplay as a character who either excels in a few verticals or is a jack of all trades who can easily take out most enemies without too many problems. Leveling up these skills allows players to enjoy a wealth of buffs that can be pretty satisfying to employ for obvious reasons.
However, some people wouldn't mind these buffs being a bit more powerful, especially when it comes to Ranged, Dialog, Stealth, Tech, and Leadership. For all these skills, this mod enhances the buffs attained by investing in them, making it more rewarding for players to level up these particular skills in The Outer Worlds.
9 Chromatic Aberration Remover

Various modern graphical changes have seen a rather mixed reception across most players. One such divisive visual enhancement is chromatic aberration, which can be pretty impressive in certain moments... But not all the time!
The Outer Worlds features chromatic aberration in spades, so it's rather odd to see that this aspect of the visuals can't be turned off in the options. Rather, players will need to download this mod that removes it from the game instead, which can be rather inconvenient but necessary for players who hate the game's aggressive chromatic aberration.

There are bound to be many reshade mods for The Outer Worlds, given the rather popular nature of this easy-to-access modification. However, some reshades get too aggressive and compromise on the existing visual design of the game.
This isn't the case with the Terraformed ReShade mod, which does a great job of making the colors of The Outer Worlds pop without looking too egregious in the process. It's a great mod that any fan of such graphical enhancements should check out.
