Blizzard is nerfing Brigitte in Overwatch 2, and it has upset some fans of the hero shooter. Brigitte is a Support hero that first made her debut in the original Overwatch game. Like other heroes on the roster, Blizzard has tweaked Brigitte through balance updates in an attempt to make her not only fun to play as, but fair when played against. More Brigitte changes are on the way as part of the Overwatch 2 Season 8 update.

Overwatch 2 Season 8 will be going live on Tuesday, December 5. Overwatch 2 Season 8's biggest change will be Mauga joining the roster, but existing heroes will also be getting attention in the update. Blizzard has yet to reveal the full Overwatch 2 Season 8 update patch notes, but game director Aaron Keller recently published a blog post where he teased fans about what they can expect when Season 8 goes live on December 5.

One of the more controversial changes mentioned by Keller is that Brigitte is getting a nerf. Keller explained that Brigitte is the best performing Support hero since the latest Overwatch 2 update, and so the team is going to nerf her to "bring her back in line." The Overwatch 2 Brigitte nerf will see her Whip Shot damage reduced, but it remains to be seen how big of an impact it will have on her viability as a Support hero.

Reddit user HalexUwU took issue with the Brigitte nerf in a post that has amassed over 2,000 upvotes at the time of this writing, indicating that many fans agree that the upcoming change is unnecessary. HalexUwU pointed out that Brigitte has the lowest pick-rate among Support heroes in all ranks other than Grandmaster, calling into question her categorization as a "must-pick" hero. They also pointed out how Ana has been the most-picked Support hero across all ranks for quite some time, yet she is not being nerfed in the game's next big update.

Brigitte isn't the only Support hero getting tweaked in the Overwatch 2 Season 8 update. Blizzard also confirmed that Baptiste is getting nerfed in the new update by lowering his primary fire ammo from 45 to 36. The Overwatch 2 community doesn't seem to have nearly as strong opinions about that as they do the Brigitte nerf, though.
