LE SSERAFIM is back; not just on the charts, but on Overwatch 2’s battlefield as well. The popular South Korean girl group is lending their FEARLESS energy and looks to heroes Ashe, Mercy, Juno, D.Va, and Illari. This LE SSERAFIM Legendary skin set also comes with new cosmetics for Tracer, Kiriko, Brigitte, and Sombra. This is the second collaboration between OW2 and LE SSERAFIM, which suggests that players must enjoy this aesthetic, which could be described as "casual." Therefore, it could be beneficial, for both the game and its fans, if Overwatch 2 were to get a Battle Pass theme that reflects the desire for this type of character skin.
The first Overwatch 2 and LE SSERAFIM collaboration, which spanned November 1st to November 30th, 2023, featured cosmetics for Tracer, Brigitte, Sombra, Kiriko, and D.Va based on the band’s unique style, and they could be acquired through the in-game shop. This collaboration also celebrated LE SSERAFIM’s new (and soon to be massively popular) track Perfect Night, which the group also performed at BlizzCon 2023. OW2 and LE SSERAFIM latest team-up introduces a new set of Legendary skins, which just goes to show that many players must love the look of these cosmetics.
With Overwatch 2 Taking a Big Shot, It's Time Marvel Rivals Fires Back With the Same Gun
Overwatch 2's latest feature addition for Stadium Mode fires a big shot at Marvel Rivals, and it's high time for the latter to return the favor.
Casual Looks are the Obvious Choice for a Future Battle Pass Theme
Each Overwatch 2 Battle Pass season has a theme that most, if not all, of its unlockable cosmetics follow. Fan-favorite themes include Starwatch and Cosmic Crisis, which were based on space operas and eldritch horror, respectively. Such cosmetics are often intricate and have over-the-top designs. However, it may be time to introduce a more laid-back collection that gives characters access to more casual looks.
The LE SSERAFIM Collabs Highlight a Demand for More Casual Cosmetics
After the initial event in November 2023, the first set of LE SSERAFIM skins temporarily returned to Overwatch 2's shop in August 2024. This return would not mark the end of the collaboration between OW2 and LE SSERAFIM, though, and a brand-new set of skins is now available. The ongoing nature of this collaboration suggests that these types of cosmetics must be pretty popular among the general player base, not just with Overwatch 2 players who are also FEARNOTs (LE SSERAFIM’s official fandom name). As such, it would be worth a try to create a Battle Pass theme centered around a similar casual aesthetic.
Overwatch’s Legacy Casual Wear Skins are Also Quite Popular
The LE SSERAFIM cosmetics are certainly not the first casual Overwatch skins that have proven to be popular. The Casual Hanzo skin, for example, gets a lot of love from fans, and it’s not hard to see why. The skin's dark jacket and joggers, accented by its bright yellow undershirt and blue quiver, make Hanzo look effortlessly cool. Other fan-favorite casual-wear-inspired skins include:
- Cabana Ana
- Athleisure/Sukajan Kiriko
- Grillmaster 76
- Tropical and Funky Baptiste
It’s fun to see the heroes in clothes that they’d usually wear to relax and unwind, as it makes them feel more relatable. Grillmaster 76, for example, looks like a dad, grandpa, or uncle at the family summer barbecue. Therefore, it could be a good idea to introduce a Battle Pass theme focused on such a concept. A lot of old and new Overwatch 2 heroes don’t have casual cosmetics yet. Cassidy is just begging to have a cosmetic with him in flannel, bootcut jeans, some dusty cowboy boots, and possibly a baseball cap. As such, a casual-wear-inspired Battle Pass theme could help fill those hero skin gaps to many fans’ delight.
