Since its release, Blizzard has added new heroes to the roster, expanding gameplay possibilities and players' options. A player known as blvkwords sparked a discussion on Reddit about Overwatch 2’s new hero Freja. The player put forward the theory that Freja is actually Huntress from Blizzard's canceled MMO, Titan. To support their theory, they shared two images of Huntress, where some similarities to the new hero can be seen. Both heroes’ main weapon is a crossbow, and the two of them wear a cloak. Though the player didn’t elaborate further on the theory, this was enough to ignite a discussion within the game’s community.

Players Believe Freja is Huntress from Titan

Many players believe that blvkwords’ theory is fairly likely, given how Blizzard has handled the creation of other heroes in the past. One player pointed out that Genji’s original concept was split into Genji and Hanzo in Overwatch 2. Another player brought up Mama Hong, a hero created for the pitch of Overwatch that was taken from a Titan concept art.

Some players in the comments weren’t too thrilled about the idea of Blizzard recycling old content for its games, though others don’t mind as much. Some trust that this doesn’t undermine the game’s quality, noting that many other popular titles like Elden Ring and RDR2 have seemingly done the same.

Even though fans never got to know much about Huntress, they do know some of the things Freja will bring to Overwatch 2 later in 2025. Freja can deal a lot of damage while moving fast across the battlefield thanks to the dash she can perform while reloading. She also deals explosive damage with her alternative fire, Take Aim. Whether or not Blizzard took inspiration from Titan to create Freja will remain a mystery, but players will be able to learn more about the new hero when she is released in Season 16.
