An Overwatch 2 Lifeweaver has caused a Genji Ultimate to end in disaster by effectively utilizing the Support hero's abilities. Many Overwatch 2 players have shared impressive Lifeweaver plays since the character was added, but this may be among the most demoralizing for Genji.

Lifeweaver was introduced as a new Support hero to Overwatch 2 with Season 4 in 2023. The support hero offers his allies powerful heals, but also provides movement-related mechanics in his Petal Platform, Life Grip, and Tree of Life Ultimate ability. These movement-based abilities often allow Lifeweaver to make impressive plays that can become Play of the Game. Beyond adding the new character, Overwatch 2 Season 4 introduced a 3v3 Deathmatch mode, Battle for Olympus event, and the Talantis Control map. One gamer has effectively ended Genji's Ultimate ability in disaster by utilizing Lifeweaver's toolkit.

An Overwatch 2 player pulls off a ridiculous Junker Queen play against an enemy Roadhog on one of the original game's most infamous maps.

Reddit user TheUnknownY recently shared an Overwatch 2 clip highlighting their Support skills using Lifeweaver. The video begins with Lifeweaver being attacked by a Genji using his Dragonblade Ultimate ability, with one swing of the sword connecting with the Overwatch 2 Support hero. After being hit once, Lifeweaver uses a Petal Platform to escape more damage, and then Life Grips an allied Kiriko who becomes the new target for Genji. As Kiriko is whisked to safety, the Genji's Ultimate fades, and the Damage hero simply stands in one spot on the Eichenwald map. Shortly afterward, the Genji embraces his defeat, with Lifeweaver playing a critical role in ensuring they get zero kills with their Ultimate.

This Overwatch 2 Lifeweaver Causes Genji's Ultimate to End in Disaster

Going beyond showing Lifeweaver's perspective, TheUnknownY's video includes Genji's point of view, highlighting just how devastating the defeat was. As Genji's screen shows the health of the Overwatch 2 Damage hero, their perspective showcases just how quickly he was defeated after his Ultimate ability. Although the hero wasn't very effective when moving around the battlefield, he's almost immediately killed when standing still. While this Genji was unable to do much damage to Lifeweaver, Kiriko, or other nearby opponents, a more seasoned player may have been more successful. As the clip only focuses on one play, it's unclear if this Genji was able to contribute more to his team using different strategies.

Given how the footage makes Lifeweaver's gameplay look effortless, it may help new players counter Genji Ultimate abilities in the future. As Blizzard continues to update Overwatch 2, Genji may receive buffs that make him harder for Lifeweaver to deal with. Lifeweaver may also see nerfs in the future that reduce his ability to move allies with Petal Platforms and Life Grip.
