Before changing the name in Overwatch 2, it is important to remember that changing the BattleTag for the first time is free of cost. However, if a player has already changed the BattleTag once and wants another change for the second time, they need to purchase it from Blizzard for $10. The process of setting a new name in Overwatch 2 is different for every gaming platform. Here's how Overwatch 2 players can alter their names and get a new identity online.

How to Change the BattleTag in Overwatch 2

Change the Display Name On PlayStation

Click on "Settings" on the main dashboard.
Go to "Users and Accounts" and select "Accounts."
Click on "Profile" and enter the required details.
Select the "Edit" option next to the current GamerTag and type the new name.
Confirm the choice.

Change the Display Name on PC

Head to the Battle.net store.
Once there, players will need to enter the details of their personal account and log in.
Navigate to the “Account Details” and the “BattleTag” options.
To the right of the BattleTag, there's a pencil with an ‘Update’ option next to it.
Click the pencil icon and proceed to type the new name on the entry bar.
Stick to the naming policy of Blizzard, leave no spaces, and choose a name that is not offensive in any way.
Once the name is confirmed, click on "Change Your BattleTag," and that's it.

Change the Display Name on Xbox

Take out the controller and press the Xbox button on it.
Head to "Profile and System” and click on the Xbox profile.
Select "Customize Profile."
Click on the current GamerTag, and it will browse the option "Choose your new GamerTag."
Input the new name and confirm it.

Be patient with the name change coming into effect, as it may take 24 hours for the new BattleTag to appear everywhere. As mentioned above, changing the username for the second time costs $10, so make sure to choose the name wisely.
