Overwatch 2 just revealed an awesome crossover event with Nerf, featuring a Legendary skin for Cassidy, six weapon skins inspired by real-life toys, and a hilarious new game mode. The second collaboration for Overwatch 2 Season 17 begins on August 5 and runs through August 18.
A Nerf Vortex football and some darts first appeared during the Season 17 trailer, and again on several Overwatch 2 maps in the update, indicating a crossover with the toy line could be coming soon. Overwatch 2 confirmed the event by scheduling a Nerf collaboration trailer to air on August 4.
Overwatch 2 Teases New Ways to Track Hero Stats
Overwatch 2 talks about several new ways for players to track the statistics of certain playable heroes, both in and out of the game.
Now, Overwatch 2 has officially pulled back the curtain on this nostalgic crossover event. Headlining the collab is Overwatch 2's resident outlaw Cassidy, who gets a new Legendary Nerf skin that outfits the gunslinger for play with a Nerf Maverick instead of his Peacekeeper, and Vortex Footballs for his Flashbangs. Tracer, Genji, Mei, Hanzo, Baptiste, and Soldier: 76 join in the fun as well with weapon skins inspired by real-life Nerf toys.
Overwatch 2 x Nerf Collaboration Skins
- Cassidy – Maverick and Vortex Football (Legendary skin)
- Tracer – Gelfire Pros
- Genji – Slingerang and Power Blast Bat
- Mei – Super Soaker XP100
- Hanzo – Big Bad Bow
- Baptiste – Galactic Commander
- Soldier: 76 – N Series Pinpoint
The Nerf x Overwatch 2 crossover runs from August 5 through August 18, during which fans can play the new Nerf or Nothin’ game mode: a free-for-all deathmatch where eight competitors race to 20 eliminations to claim victory across popular maps like Blizzard World, Chateau, Paris, and King’s Row. Players start with a random hero – minus Overwatch 2 support-focused characters like Mercy and Lifeweaver – and swap to a different hero after getting a kill or dying three times. Cooldowns are reduced by 80%, and ultimate charge is preserved through death and partially across heroes, ensuring fast-paced mayhem during the match.
Fans can also score some in-game items by completing event challenges during the Nerf crossover. A Nerf spray, player icon, foam dart weapon charm, and Tracer’s Gelfire Pro weapon skin can all be obtained for free alongside 40,000 Battle Pass XP through these events. That said, these challenges themselves can only be completed in the Nerf or Nothin’ mode.
The Nerf collaboration lasts until a week before Season 18, which begins on August 26. However, there is at least one other exciting event taking place during this time: Overwatch 2 is holding the Wuyang trial weekend from August 14 through August 18, letting fans try out the new support hero shortly before his release. With the aquatic hero making a splash in Overwatch 2 right around the corner, players can expect the official debut of Wuyang’s abilities, backstory, and in-game model within the next week or so.
