Summary

  • A new Overwatch 2 survey features skin concepts like mermaids and cyberpunk agents.
  • Some skins that have appeared in past surveys, like Royal and Demon Rocker, were eventually added to the game.
  • There's no guarantee that any of these concept art skins will be released in Overwatch 2, so expectations should be tempered.

A bunch of Overwatch 2 skin concepts were recently revealed during some fan surveys, transforming heroes into mermaids, Tokyo street gangsters, dark neon cyberpunk agents, goths, and more. While none of these skins have been officially announced, any number of them could come to Overwatch 2 in the future.

Ever since the original Overwatch, hero skins have been some of the most popular and exciting ways to customize one’s character. Occasionally, Overwatch 2 sends out surveys to players featuring concept art for new skins to poll interest in various themes and concepts.

Overwatch 2 Fan Shares Lord of the Rings Skin Concepts

An inventive Overwatch 2 fan shares concepts for Lord of the Rings skins, and shows what cosmetics inspired by J.R.R. Tolkien's work would look like.

Now, a fresh set of Overwatch 2 survey skins from April has revealed some more concepts that could one day be added to the FPS. Sent to fans, and compiled together by Overwatch Cavalry, these skin concepts run a wide range of themes, from cute skins like kawaii Kiriko and pink cat Ashe to the gorgeous mermaid Mercy and high fashion Ana. A series of goth skins for characters like Tracer and Zenyatta would be perfect at a My Chemical Romance concert, while dark neon Moira and Widowmaker look straight out of Cyberpunk 2077. With more skins inspired by Tokyo street gangs, Hanabi Taikai fireworks, cardboard boxes, and lambs and wolves, plenty of interesting skin concepts were found in these surveys.

Overwatch 2 players have seen several previous survey skins arrive in the past. Most recently, many of the Royal and Demon Rocker skins from Overwatch 2 Season 16 were featured in a survey from April 2024. The popular Black Cat, Toxic, Rainy Day, and both Chinese and Norse mythology skins were also first seen in surveys, meaning many popular cosmetics have originated from them.

However, it is important to note that, while this concept art is official, there is no guarantee fans will see these skins down the road. While some might be added in future seasons in the shop or Battle Pass, or as Twitch Drops, plenty of these concepts will never see the light of day. Players should be sure to temper their expectations, and to make sure Blizzard knows which skins they would like to see if they are chosen for a survey themselves.

Fans hoping to collect a free skin right now still have a little bit longer to do so via an active Twitch Drop. By watching nine hours of any Overwatch 2 streamers on Twitch before May 6 at 11:58 PM PT, players can earn Ice Princess Symmetra for free, without even booting up the game.
