  • The collab will introduce new skins for Reinhardt, Widowmaker, Torbjorn, and Zenyatta based on popular WoW characters.

Overwatch 2 players are getting more new cosmetics soon, as the upcoming World of Warcraft collaboration is officially on its way on September 17 following a recent teaser trailer for the crossover event. The collaboration will bring four new unique skins to Overwatch 2, each themed after the iconic MMORPG, for the heroes Reinhardt, Widowmaker, Torbjorn, and Zenyatta.

Overwatch 2 has had a few major collaborations since its initial launch, many of which saw items from various Blizzard properties pop up as cosmetics available for purchase or as part of its battle pass. The game has seen character skins from Diablo 4 and even StarCraft appear in the past as time-limited items and already features various references to Blizzard IPs, like the in-game map Blizzard World.

What is The Best Crossover Collab Skin in Overwatch 2?

While most of the crossover collab skins are generally pretty good, I'd have to say the top ones would have to the the Transformers Bumblebee Bastion or Optimus Prime Reinhardt, or the Le Sserafim collab skins. The Bastion and Rein Transformers skins are definitely the best designs in the set, and they even make Transformers sound effect during certain abilities and highlight intros. The Le Sserafim skins, on the other hand, are generally just of a really high quality and feature some really cool outfits inspired by kpop fasion.

In fact, Blizzard World is the setting used in the trailer for the upcoming World of Warcraft collab, which showed off the new player skins for four popular heroes set to be available on September 17. The trailer takes the form of a first-person ride on a rollercoaster in Blizzard World as the Overwatch 2 heroes Reinhardt, Widowmaker, Torbjorn, and Zenyatta greet the viewer while showing off their new World of Warcraft skins.

Overwatch 2's Upcoming World of Warcraft Collab Gets New Trailer

As for the skins themselves, Widowmaker's takes on a look reminiscent of the World of Warcraft character Sylvanas Windrunner, Zenyatta appears as Thrall, Torbjorn gets a makeover as Magni Bronzebeard in diamond form, and Reinhardt's is based on the iconic Lich King. These are not the first World of Warcraft skins that have appeared in Overwatch 2, either, as certain heroes have gotten skins from the game in the past.

While Overwatch has done collaborations with outside franchises in the past, even in the first game, the sequel has seen quite a few more in recent years, even with IPs not affiliated with Blizzard. Just this year, the game saw several skins based on the iconic anime series Cowboy Bebop and another event that brought a series of Transformers cosmetics to the game as well.

Currently, there is no more information with regard to whether Blizzard has anything else planned for the World of Warcraft collaboration, though it seems likely that it will also include new sprays, voice lines, and even some emotes as well. In the meantime, Overwatch 2 fans can also snag the legendary Oni skin for Genji through an ongoing promotion on the Blizzard merch store and work on finishing the Season 12 battle pass in preparation for the upcoming event.
