As part of the live-service format the game follows, Overwatch 2 tends to rotate Competitive Seasons every couple of months, with each new season bringing the arrival of a new theme, Battle Pass, event challenges, limited-time game modes, and more. The Winter Wonderland in-game event is just one of many different annual events to occur on a yearly basis in Overwatch 2, bringing a series of different holiday-themed cosmetics, challenges, and rewards for players to participate in.

Overwatch 2's Season 14 is no different from this, bringing back the Winter Wonderland event for 2024. With this arrival in early December, players will have a limited timeframe to enjoy all of the various limited-time holiday game modes such as Yeti Hunt and Mei's Snowball Offensive, as well as find a variety of holiday-themed cosmetics available to obtain from the Hero Gallery or Overwatch Shop. To mark the start of Overwatch 2's Season 14, the Winter Wonderland event launched in-game alongside this Competitive season rotation, kicking off on December 10, 2024. Players will have until January 6, 2025, to enjoy this in-game event, which includes the ability to participate in all seasonal limited-time game modes, as well as complete the event challenges and earn rewards by doing so.

There are a total of seven different Winter Wonderland challenges in Overwatch 2's Season 14, each of which will reward players with an additional boost of XP that can be used to work their way through Battle Pass tiers, as well as themed rewards such as sprays, player icons, and name cards for the holidays.
