Overwatch 2 has officially revealed Season 19, Haunted Masquerade, which brings a Battle Pass refresh full of spooky skins, a brand-new Halloween Terror game mode called the Haunted Masquerade, and heroes, Gadgets, and more for Stadium. The Season 19 update for Overwatch 2 stalks into Future Earth starting October 14.

overwatch 2 season 19 haunted masquerade roadmap features

With Season 18 coming to a close, Overwatch 2 is preparing to release its next seasonal update, just in time for the Halloween season. Overwatch 2 historically celebrates the spooky holiday in a big way, with special Halloween Terror game modes, skins, and events.

Now, Overwatch 2 has officially revealed Season 19, complete with tons of scary surprises. Headlining this update is The Haunted Masquerade, a brand-new game mode that lends its name to the season itself. Players choose masks of other Overwatch 2 heroes to don, granting their characters special powers based on which costume they are wearing. However, choosing a mask of a hero with lore connections to the chosen character provides special benefits, like the knight-and-squire duo, Reinhardt and Brigitte. Tapping into these combos not only grants additional powers, but can grant insight into the rich backstory of the characters.

Haunted Masquerade joins the other Halloween Terror game modes, including Junkenstein’s Revenge and Wrath of the Bride, from October 14 until November 2.

Of course, no season would be complete without a Battle Pass refresh. This season, fans can collect tons of spooktacular costumes for their heroes, including Vampire Moira, Ninja Sombra, and Cursed Teddy Zenyatta. Two new Mythic skins are coming as well, with both Divine Druid Lifeweaver and Kiriko’s Spirit Keeper weapon skin coming to the Overwatch 2 Mythic store. That said, players might consider saving their Mythic Prisms, as the Mythic Cyber Fuel Junkrat is coming in the mid-Season 19 update. A cycle of Legendary Archangel and Folklore skins will also find their way into the shop on October 14 and from October 28, respectively.

The new Stadium game mode in Overwatch 2 is getting some major features too. Torbjorn, Hazard, and Sojourn join the fray, and the Armory is getting a major overhaul, with search tools, sub-tabs for builds, and more. Customizable fly text can give an active readout of damage and healing numbers, and Gadgets are a new type of consumable item in Stadium that adds a new level of utility and strategy to the game.

One of the most exciting parts of Season 19, however, is that the next new Overwatch 2 hero is going to be revealed, with a brief teaser for her spotted at the end of the trailer. A trial for this character, almost certainly the melee gladiator known as the "Wolf of Retribution," is set to arrive somewhere during this season, likely around the mid-Season update. Fans won’t have to wait long to finally learn who this mysterious character is and how they play.
