Overwatch 2 just revealed a new gameplay trailer for Stadium, the highly customizable game mode coming in Season 16. Featuring a third-person camera option, upgradable abilities, and game-breaking character builds, Stadium arrives in Overwatch 2 with its first batch of heroes and maps on April 22.

Stadium is a new type of game mode that Blizzard first revealed during the Overwatch 2 Spotlight event in February. Two teams battle in this best-of-seven grudge match, collecting currency throughout the game to upgrade their heroes with incredible abilities between each round.

A creative Overwatch 2 fan shares a concept for skins based on Cyberpunk 2077, showing what a crossover between the two titles could look like.

Now, just a week ahead of the game mode’s official release, Overwatch 2 has revealed an exciting gameplay trailer showcasing the Stadium game mode. Featuring a gripping comeback from the perspective of one of the two teams, fans can see some of the powerful new abilities at play, including an AoE Nano-Boost from Ana, a Biotic Orb Multiball from Moira, a damaging Orbital Ray from Juno, a mini B.O.B. With Ashe, and a rolling snowball attack for Mei. Players can also see how Cash, the currency used to upgrade their abilities, is earned via eliminations and other gameplay, or by selling powers and items between each round.

Overwatch 2 Stadium Game Mode Arrives April 22

15 of the 17 launch heroes can be seen in the Stadium trailer, though Blizzard eventually plans on adding others in the future. Soldier: 76, Genji, Reaper, Ashe, Mei, and Cassidy are the options for damage heroes, Juno, Ana, Moira, Kiriko, and Lucio as choices for support players, and Reinhardt, Zarya, Junker Queen, and Orisa make up the cast of playable tanks. Additionally, though they are not in the trailer, Mercy and D.Va can be seen in other promotional material for Stadium in Overwatch 2, so they will be available as well. Shortened versions of familiar Clash, Push, and Control maps appear in the game mode, alongside brand-new maps like Gladius, a battlefield located inside the Colosseo arena.

The Stadium game mode debuts with the launch of Season 16 on April 22. Overwatch 2 has previously stated that it hopes Stadium will become a new pillar of the game alongside the likes of classic Quick Play and Competitive modes, so players should expect it to receive plenty of post-launch support in the coming months.

Even beyond Stadium, Season 16 is gearing up to be a major update for Overwatch 2. Freja, a highly-mobile bounty hunter, joins the cast of playable damage heroes, several over- and under-powered Perks are being tweaked and replaced, and 6v6 Open Queue will continue to be available in Overwatch 2 in both Quick Play and Competitive. Regardless of how they play the game, it seems like fans will have a lot to look forward to in Season 16.
