Overwatch 2 Season 18 saw the arrival of Wuyang, the second hero of 2025. Formerly known as Aqua during the Overwatch 2 Spotlight event, this highly mobile healer can zoom around the battlefield, knock enemies back with massive waves, and remote control water orbs to chase down enemies. It is no exaggeration to say Wuyang may be one of the most unique heroes to arrive in Overwatch 2.
However, there is a lot more going for him than Wuyang's kit in Overwatch 2. The hero has made waves in the community, with an exceptional amount of fan art and love for the handsome hero arriving rather quickly. What’s more, this reception has been reflected by Blizzard as well, as it has given Wuyang fans two record-breaking reasons to celebrate the hero’s release: center stage in a collab, and some new Twitch drops.
Wuyang is Getting a Lot of Love from Overwatch 2
Could Wuyang Become Overwatch 2’s New Poster Child?
The mid-Season 18 update on September 16 marked the start of the Overwatch 2 x Persona 5 collaboration. Like many others before it, the Persona 5 crossover features some in-game challenges, easter eggs, and several new skins inspired by the main characters of the JRPG:
- Wuyang as Joker (Ren Amamiya)
- Mercy as Panther (Ann Tamaki)
- Lifeweaver as Fox (Yuske Kitagawa)
- D.Va as Queen (Makoto Niijima)
- Genji as Skull (Ryuji Sakamoto)
While the likes of D.Va, Mercy, and Genji getting new skins is no surprise, Wuyang being chosen for a new skin is especially noteworthy. The hero only just arrived three weeks before the crossover – and Wuyang was not only included, but taking center stage with an Overwatch 2 skin of Persona 5 protagonist Joker.
Previously, Juno held the record for the shortest time between release and appearance in a collaboration. The support hero launched with Season 12 on August 20, 2024, and got a skin in the Overwatch 2 x My Hero Academia collaboration during Season 13 on October 17 – about 8 weeks after her release. Needless to say, Wuyang blew her out of the water.

If that was not enough, Wuyang is also featured in the Overwatch 2 mid-Season 18 Twitch drops. Fans can get the Mala Mania Spray, Happy Panda Weapon Charm, and the Seeking Waters Way and Panda Hugger Namecards, all of which are inspired by Wuyang. A new hero receiving Twitch Drops in their launch season has only happened twice before: the Sukajan Kiriko skin during her release alongside Overwatch 2, and Traveling Monk Ramattra in Season 2.
These cosmetics are available alongside a regular and Epic Loot Box, all of which can be earned by watching 13 hours of any Overwatch 2 streamer on Twitch from now through October 8.
Many believe Wuyang is being set up as a new poster child for Overwatch 2. Heroes like Tracer, Mercy, and D.Va have historically been found front and center in a lot of Overwatch 2 marketing in the past, with Kiriko and Juno both doing some heavy lifting since their respective arrival in the sequel. Between Wuyang’s charming personality, handsome appearance, and popularity, it would not be a surprise to see him become a new face for the franchise.
