On January 30th, Blizzard released the latest patch notes for its ever-evolving game Overwatch, with this set of patch notes making some big changes to popular heroes Junkrat and Mercy.

One of Overwatch’s most used defense heroes, Junkrat, got one big change to his Concussion Mine. His Concussion Mine will now “deal less damage to targets farther away from the explosion’s center.” Junkrat mains will now have to be more precise with their attacks and more strategic with their Concussion Mine throws.

There’s no character in Overwatch that knows change quite like Mercy, and this patch is no different. In this particular set of patch notes, Mercy got a lot of changes. Mercy’s ultimate, Valkyrie, will “no longer make Resurrect instant, no longer grant a bonus Resurrect charge, the speed bonus Guardian Angel receives when activating Valkyrie has been decreased by 50%, and duration reduced from 20 seconds to 15 seconds.” In essence, Mercy’s ultimate is getting nerfed and making her less powerful.

Blizzard more than likely saw these heroes as too powerful and too unbalanced for the game and wanted to make sure the game was being played as fairly as possible. Players may not be too happy with these changes, but hopefully it doesn’t take too long for them to get used to.

This patch note also included details about World of Warcraft: Battle for Azeroth pre-purchase items. If players have preordered this particular World of Warcraft  expansion, they will receive a new emote for Tracer, Horde and Alliance themed voice lines for Torbjorn, Anduin, Jaina, Slyvanas, and Saurfang sprays, and last but not least, Kul Tiras and Zandalar player icons.

Another fix included in this patch note was a bug that “prevented D.Va’s face and hair textures from loading when her Black Cat skin [is] equipped.” This particular skin launched with Overwatch’s latest update, which added the game’s newest map, “Blizzard World.”

Blizzard always seems to have its players' best interests at heart when it comes to constantly keeping the game updated and fair, even if the players aren’t always too keen on these constant buffs and nerfs to their favorite characters.

Overwatch is available now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
