However, there are still some locations in which players can place their honey lures securely and efficiently, enabling them to catch some of the best bugs in the game - specifically the Rainbow Tipped Butterfly.

Catching bugs in Palia is essential when leveling up the Bug Catching skill, but it can also be a great way to earn extra money.
The recipe for a honey lure is unlocked at Bug Catching level 7 for 2000 gold at the Bug Catching Guild from Auni. They're not the cheapest items to make, as one honey lure requires 1 Gold Bar, 1 Dragon's Beard Peat, and 4 apples, but the rewards can often be well worth it, as it's one of the best methods to catch rare bugs in Palia. Alternatively, if players lack the required crafting ingredients, honey lures can be purchased for 75 Bug Catching medals from the Bug Catching Guild Store after reaching Bug Catching level 10.
5 Windmill Fields, West of Chapaa Crossing - Kilima Valley

One of the few efficient honey lure spots to be located outside of Bahari Bay is found in the Windmill Fields just West of Chapaa Crossing, almost immediately after leaving the player's homestead and just before Kilima Village. Whilst players are less likely to find epic tier bugs here, this location does have the best spawn rate for Gossamer Veil Moths. These moths are a rare-tier bug and can often be excessively difficult to find.
This location will provide ample opportunities to catch this rare bug. After placing a honey lure, there should be quite a few that spawn, so players should start throwing their smoke bombs as soon as they see any appearing. Whilst not a rare bug, the Gossamer Veil Moth is a valuable catch, and this honey lure method makes them 10x easier to obtain.
4 Proudhorn Pass - Bahari Bay

Proudhorn Pass is one of the best locations in Palia to place a honey lure when hunting for Ancient Amber Beetles specifically. However, there is still a chance that other rare insects will spawn here. Located west of Statue Garden and just northeast of the Ancient Aquaduct, Proudhorn Pass is easily accessible and makes for a great spot to place honey lures.

Bahari Bay is a central spot for bug catching and contains many of the best locations to place a honey lure. One such location is around Pulsewater Plains, located northeast of Hideaway Bluffs and southeast of Pavel Mines. Players will often find that someone else is announcing that they are placing a honey lure around this location, inviting others to go along and participate.
This is often the best method when it comes to catching bugs with honey lures - teamwork is key. If every player brings around 80 smoke bombs to use at this location whilst the honey lure is active, more insects will spawn, which means that there's a good chance for rarer insects to spawn, too. Working together means catching more insects, which inevitably results in a great money-making method. Pulsewater Plains is one of the best and most well-known locations for group-based bug-catching.
2 West Of Hideaway Bluffs - Bahari Bay

One of the absolute best spots to place a honey lure in Palia is undoubtedly at the entrance to Pavel Mines. This is due to the fact that 4 epic-tier bugs have very high spawn rates here. No matter if players are Bug Catching in groups or solo, placing a honey lure near the entrance to Pavel Mines will almost always yield great results when catching valuable bugs.
No matter if players are attempting to catch Rainbow Tipped Butterflies, Jewelwing Dragonflies, Fairy Mantes, or Ancient Ember Beetles, a well-placed honey lure will work wonders for everyone here. The entrance to Pavel Mines is found near central Bahari Bay, just northeast of Hodari and Najuma's house or almost directly above Pulsewater Plains.
