Fishing is a big part of the adventure life sim Palia as it helps you complete quests, cook tasty meals, and even finish some of the Night Sky Bundles. While the game already offers a great lineup of colorful fish, the recent Elderwood expansion added 20 new ones to the mix.
The Toadstool Floatfish is one of Elderwood’s native aquatic creatures. It resembles a glowing jellyfish and is fairly easy to catch if you know where to look. You’ll need one to complete Elderwood’s third main story quest, "Nature of Shadows," in Palia. If you've already spoken to Tamala at the Elderwood Stables, here’s a quick guide to help you find and catch the Toadstool Floatfish so you can progress in the quest.
Palia: How to Find the Night Sky Temple
The Night Sky Temple is an ancient spot where you complete bundles for rewards and meet NPCs for quest-related info in Palia. Here’s how to find it.
How to Find the Toadstool Floatfish in Palia
In Palia, the Toadstool Floatfish can be found by fishing in any of the lakes in Elderwood. There's no special requirement, so the fish can show up in just about any random lake. However, if you want to save time and catch more of them quickly, head to De Mer Dock. It’s one of the best spots for catching this fish and is located on the south side of the Elderwood map, near the Okanaa Bog area, to be exact. Just open your map and keep heading south.
If you're starting from Honeymiel Slope (which is the entrance to this expansion), De Mer Dock is quite a trek from there, but just follow your compass south, and you’ll get there soon enough.
How to Catch the Toadstool Floatfish in Palia
Once you reach De Mer Dock in Elderwood, you need to fish in the waters using your fishing rod to catch the Toadstool Floatfish. Luckily, you don't need a bait to reel it in. So, cast your line plain and simple, and wait for it to bite. When your fishing mini-game triggers, just keep the Toadstool in the spawning circles to snag it. Keep repeating the process, and you'll grab more for later use.
Players who haven't wrapped up the game's main story or unlocked the Elderwood chapter just yet can still catch the Toadstool Floatfish, since Elderwood is open to everyone. If you're low on money, you can even sell one for 50 Gold Coins at the General Store. This glowing fish works as an ingredient for meals like Fish Stew, Fish Tacos, and Grilled Fish, and once consumed, these dishes can give you a decent amount of Focus Points.
