The free-to-play MMORPG Palia has received a launch date for the Nintendo Switch. This upcoming release will provide gamers their first opportunity to try out the new open-world title on a console without compromising on visuals that much.

Developed and published by the Los Angeles-based Singularity 6 Corporation, Palia has been described as a cozy and welcoming community simulation game set in an original high fantasy world. It went completely public with a PC open beta last August, and Palia would later launch on the Epic Games Store later in October as well. A Steam version of Palia should be out by 2024 if the title's listing on the Valve-owned platform is to be believed.

Console users need not fear missing out as Palia will become available on the Nintendo Switch on December 14, a new trailer for the game that was showed during this year's Game Awards revealed. The new teaser featured footage that had visible aliasing on in-game models and low frame rates in certain scenes, backing up the claim that the footage used in the video was captured using the Switch. However, Palia's Switch release will supposedly be no different from the PC version when it comes to the core gameplay and mechanics.

While Switch players can expect some differences in the visual fidelity like the game being set to run only 30 frames per second or even lower, Palia's gameplay that features a mix of open-world and community sim elements should be left untouched, a FAQ clarified. The title is set to feature cross-play and cross-progression support on the Switch anyway, so players should be able to easily go between playing the game on their RGB-laden gaming desktop and mobile console whenever they want.

Fortunately for Singularity 6 Corporation, whatever visible graphical changes that were apparent in the new Palia trailer have largely gone unnoticed. People have instead talked about the hype that was being generated around Palia, with official posts of the new trailer on Twitter and YouTube receiving comments from many who expressed their excitement in playing the game soon.

Those who pre-order Palia for free on the Nintendo eShop will get the chance to claim several gifts, including a Leap Froggy Outfit, Mushroom Glider, and Froggy Bucket - all items with designs that do not look out of place in the world of Palia that took a new approach to gender with regards to its character creation.
