How To Unlock the Vault Of Roots Quest
Shortly after completing the Like A Bird quest and unlocking a glider, you will unlock the Vault of the Waves quest. The glider will be needed to complete all vault quests. Next comes the Vault of Flames and the Vault of Gales. Once you have finished these three vault quests, Einar will send you a message in the mail asking you to speak with him. Talking to him will initiate the Keeper of Waves, Keeper of Flames, and Keeper of Gales mini-quests. Consequently, you will meet Hekla and Einar in the Temple of the Roots. Finish this quest to unlock the Vault of Roots.
Collect Items To Complete Bundles
Much like the previous three vaults, you must contribute items such as fish, bugs, and craftables to four different bundles: The Creatures of the Abyss, the Fruits of the Earth, Prospector's Pal, and the Rootseeker's bundles. You can access and contribute to the bundles by entering the Night Sky Temple, located in Kilima near Hekla's tent. Interact with the glowing stone device on the far right side, next to the green Rootseeker symbol on the wall. The numbers signify how many items have been contributed to the bundle.

How To Complete The Prospector's Pal Bundle
The Prospector's Pal Bundle requires two minerals that can be obtained by mining copper and stone nodes around Kilima and Bahari Bay. These precious minerals are quite rare, so it may take a lot of mining to find them. After crafting a smelter and progressing in the mining skill, you can begin to craft bars. Two types of these bars are needed to complete this bundle.

How To Complete The Rootseeker's Bundle
The final bundle is called the Rootseeker's Bundle. The only objects required are six Rootseeker Medallions. The first one will be given to you by Einar. He will instruct you to search for the remaining medallions in treasure chests, hidden in locations around Bahari Bay.

After contributing the required items to all four bundles, you will unlock the vault. As a reward, you will obtain the Ancient Galdur Statue - a rare decoration for your home.
