Palia's first new skill since launch is Animal Husbandry, which allows players to care for and breed a number of animals from the world of Palia on their own private ranch. This game mechanic allows you to see to the growth of various creatures from babies all the way up to adulthood and beyond.
While adult animals in Palia will produce various resources for you to cook with or sell, there will come a time when the creature reaches an age from which they can no longer contribute. In this guide, we will explain what the venerated status is in Palia and what to do with retired animals on your ranch.
Palia: All Ranching Animals (& How To Unlock Them)
Palia's 0.195 patch introduced Animal Husbandry to the game, allowing players to raise animals on their own ranch.
Venerated Animal Status in Palia, Explained
The animals on your ranch go through multiple life stages, from baby all the way to venerated. Once an animal reaches venerated, or retired, status, it means that this animal can no longer produce resources or breed, as they do in adulthood.
Specifically, this means a venerated Peki will not produce any more eggs, as is the case with Trufflets and mushrooms, Ormuus and milk, and Bumbles and honey. At this point, their presence on your ranch becomes purely cosmetic, but that's not necessarily a bad thing.
What To Do With Retired Animals in Palia
Once an animal is retired and no longer able to contribute to the growth of your ranch, players have a few options as to what can be done with them. When this status appears, players can decide to keep them on the farm, donate them to Delaila, or reincarnate them as a baby.
Keeping Retired Animals
Palia is a very relaxed game that doesn't pressure players to do anything, and this is no different when it comes to the ranching feature. If you're particularly attached to an animal and would like it to stay in your ranch to live peacefully as an old creature, then that is completely fine.
What is worth noting, however, is there are limits to the number of animals from each species that you can keep, so they will take up a slot without being able to contribute to the farm.
Donating Animals To Delaila
Alternatively, if you would like your animal to live out their days peacefully on another farm, then you can donate the creature to Delaila, who will take it to another farmer to be cared for. By all appearances, this means they will be looked after, so rest assured they'll be safe and happy in their new home.
While Delaila won't be able to pay you for your animal in gold, you will receive treats relative to the rarity and quality of the animal. This means that there's the potential to score some really valuable resources to help you produce even higher-quality livestock.
How To Reincarnate Retired Animals in Palia
The third option for players is for those animals you grow a particular attachment to, as you can give them a rare treat that will reset their life cycle and return them to their baby state. In order to do this, players will need to give the animal a Divine Doughnut, which can be accessed via the Legendary Treat Pack.
Legendary Treat Pack can be acquired a few ways, but the most accessible of these is the Premium Store, which means you'll need to spend real money to get one. Alternatively, there are some free alternatives, one being via quests and accomplishments, and the other via donating a very, very high quality animal to Delaila.
