Summary

- Cattiva, Sparkit, and Mau Cryst are prime examples of cat-like Pals with unique abilities.
- Blazehowl Noct stands out as the best cat-like Pal in Palworld due to its power, rideability, and design.
In Palworld, a range of different animals are represented by each unique Pal. Some of these Pals have designs reminiscent of various combinations of animals, while some are entirely fantastical.
One of the animals that seems to have inspired a range of Pal designs is cats, and it’s easy to see why. Along with dogs, cats are one of the most popular pets in the world, so it’s not surprising that some of the Pals in Palworld have cat-like tendencies.
Palworld: 11 Best Pals To Defend Your Base From Raids
When your base is under attack during another Palworld raid, you'll want the best and strongest Pals ready to defend it.
We’re going to be looking at some of the best cat-like Pals and ranking them in terms of their abilities and how cat-like they are. Some of these Pals are completely cat-inspired, but some have designs that combine cats with other animals. If there are any cat-like elements to a Pal’s design, it qualifies for our list.
8 Cattiva
Common Normal Pal
- Increases the maximum carrying capacity of the player when on the team
- Handiwork level one
- Gathering level one
- Mining level one
- Transporting level one
Cattiva is one of the three starter Pals encountered almost immediately when players begin the game. Cattiva is one of the more well known Palworld Pals too, acting as one of the poster Pals that advertised the game.
Cattiva’s name and design are clearly entirely inspired by a cat, though it has a fantastical twist thanks to the pink fur, large blue eyes, and the spiky tufts of fur on its cheeks and head. Cattiva is a great choice for a starter Pal thanks to its useful skills. However, as the player levels up, it’s best to use Cattiva for working in a base, as it has level-one skills in four different kinds of work.
Cattiva is undoubtedly one of the most cat-like Pals in Palworld, but it comes in last on our list as it is a starter Pal that is easy to replace as the player levels up.
7 Sparkit
Common Electricity Pal
- Increases the attack power of Electricity Pals when on the team
- Generating Electricity level one
- Handiwork level one
- Transporting level one
Sparkit is a Pal that has some cat-like elements, though it could also be argued that it has a similar design to Pikachu from Pokemon, in that it kind of looks a bit like a mouse too.
Sparkit is a small Electric-type Pal, and its cat-like elements come from its pointed ears, fluffy chest, fangs, and paws. As mentioned, there are also some mouse features thrown in there too, such as its long tail.
Sparkit has a design that's in line with its Electric nature, as its tail, cheek tufts, and forehead markings are shaped like lightning bolts. The Pikachu similarities are pretty prominent, but Sparkit is definitely a little more cat-like in its design.
6 Mau Cryst
Common Ice Pal
- Will sometimes dig up money when working
- Cooling level one
- Farming level one
Much like Cattiva, Mau Cryst is a Pal that is very obviously a cat. Its name — which sounds a little like “meow”— and design are clearly inspired by cats.
Not only is this Pal a quadruped, but it also has pointed ears and a long tail as well as cat-like eyes. Of course, it also has its fantasy elements too. Thanks to being an Ice-type Pal, Mau Cryst has ice-themed markings, a light blue coat, and a unique, crystalline tail.
There is also the regular Mau Pal, but its Ice variation, Mau Cryst, makes it onto this list, as it is a little more powerful and specific in terms of its abilities.
5 Grintale
Common Normal Pal
- Rideable
- Enhances attacks with Normal Pals when being ridden
- Gathering level two
Grintale is a cat-like Pal with a design that seems to have been inspired partly by the infamous Cheshire Cat from Alice in Wonderland. Its large yellow eyes and toothy grin are clearly nods to the character, but they are also more than a little creepy. Grintale’s design is finished off with a purple color palette, two spiky tails, large pointed ears, and whiskers.
In terms of abilities, Grintale can be ridden, which is always a handy feature for any Pal. Its work abilities aren’t very strong, but its ability to enhance the attacks of Normal-type Pals while being ridden is a very useful skill to have in battle.
4 Tombat
Rare Dark Pal
- Can use ultrasonic waves to find other Pals
- Gathering level two
- Mining level two
- Transporting level two
Next is a Pal that certainly has some cat-like features, but the entirety of its design is more of a cross between a bat and a cat. The name Tombat is a bit of a giveaway, as it is similar to Tomcat, but with a bat twist.
Tombat has a large body, with a appearance reminiscent of cats from classic cartoons, such as Tom from Tom and Jerry or Top Cat. Its body is somewhat anthropomorphized, but the cat features are still apparent, and the character could go on all fours and become even more cat-like if they wanted to. Tombat is a bit different though, as it has outstretched arms and flaps underneath that act as wings. This is where the bat elements of the design come in.
Tombat is a handy Pal for those looking to do some reconnaissance in Palworld, as its Ultrasonic Sensor can detect nearby Pals. It also has some great skills when leveled up, such as its Shadow Burst at level 22 and its Dark Laser at level 50.
3 Wixen Noct
Rare Dark And Fire Pal
- Applies Dark damage to the player’s attacks when fighting
- Handiwork level three
- Kindling level two
- Transporting level two
Wixen Noct is another Pal with a design influenced by multiple animals, including cats. The large pointed ears and almond-shaped eyes scream cat, but the anthropomorphic body and witch hat-shaped head say something else entirely. There are definitely some fox elements in there too, corroborated by the “Wixen” part of its name (similar to vixen, which means female fox).
Rather than the regular Wixen Pal, Wixen Noct makes this list, as it has two element types rather than one. It also has some useful working abilities — all at level two or three — and a skill that will add Dark damage to the player's attacks when it is in the party.
2 Katress Ignis
Rare Dark And Fire Pal
- When on the team, Grass Pals drop more items when defeated
- Handiwork level two
- Kindling level two
- Medicine Production level two
- Transporting level two
Katress Ignis is similar to the aforementioned Wixen Noct, in that has clearly been inspired by a few different animals. In fact, it has a very similar design to Wixen overall. There are lots of fox elements to Katress, and Katress Ignis’, design, but there are also some bunny rabbit and cat tidbits thrown in there too, making the Pal suitable for this list.
7 Reasons To Pick Up Palworld Again
Although Palworld is still currently in Early Access, there are plenty of reasons to return to the game today.
Much like with Wixen Noct, Katress Ignis makes this list over its regular counterpart as it has two elements rather than one, making the Pal a more versatile choice overall. Its special skill is a bit random — making it so Grass Pals drop more when defeated if Katress Ignis is in the party — but all in all, Katress Ignis is a great choice of a cat-like Pal for players to use.
1 Blazehowl Noct
Epic Dark And Fire Pal
- Rideable
- When on the team, Normal Pals drop more items when defeated
- Deforesting level two
- Kindling level two
Last but not least is the lion-like Blazehowl Noct, who makes it onto our list in place of the regular Blazehowl Pal, as it is both a Fire and Dark-type Pal, rather than just Fire. Despite its name suggesting it is a wolf Pal, Blazehowl and Blazehowl Noct have a design inspired by big cats, most notably lions. The large, flaming mane is a dead giveaway to its lion design, but it also has tiger-like stripes on its coat.
Along with being a big cat, Blazehowl Noct has huge horns that give it a mythical look. There are a few dragon-like elements to the design too, such as the aforementioned horns and the flames that act as its mane and tail fur. It could be argued that there are some wolf features too, but the big cat is the most prominent inspiration for Blazehowl and Blazehowl Noct.
Blazehowl Noct makes the top of our list thanks to its power and noticeable cat design. It can be ridden and has some great stats, even before it is leveled up. This big kitty is undoubtedly the best cat-like Pal in Palworld thanks to its strength, rideable nature, and the combination of Fire and Dark elements.
