These abilities determine a Pal’s work efficiency, ranging from Level 1 to 5. A Pal can have one or more work suitabilities at Levels 1 to 4, while Level 5 suitabilities are only obtainable through condensing Pals or using extremely rare Applied Technique books.

However, not everyone is willing to catch hundreds of Pals to condense them or endure the abysmal drop rates of Applied Technique books in dungeons. If that sounds like you, Palworld offers an alternative: the Pal Labor Research Facility. This structure allows you to research Pals and enhance their efficiency in various tasks. Unfortunately, the Pal Labor Research Facility requires rare resources called Ancient Pal Manuscripts. Although they are not as rare as Applied Technique books, obtaining them is still a challenge. There are two main ways to obtain Ancient Pal Manuscripts in Palworld:

Trading Bounty Tokens with the Vigilante Bounty Officer
Sending Pal expeditions

Both methods are reliable, but they require different approaches. Trading Bounty Tokens involves hunting Bounty Targets, while Pal expeditions require waiting for 30 to 60 minutes. It is recommended to use a mix of both strategies to maximize your Ancient Pal Manuscript collection.

Trading Bounty Tokens for Ancient Pal Manuscripts

While exploring the Palpagos Islands, you will encounter Bounty Targets, which are human boss enemies with a glowing purple aura. Defeating them rewards you with a Successful Bounty Token, which can be exchanged for an Ancient Pal Manuscript at the Vigilante Bounty Officer located in settlements.

There are 33 Bounty Targets scattered across the Palpagos Islands. If you have explored the map, their locations will appear as icons. Travel to these areas, defeat the targets, and collect Bounty Tokens. Since Bounty Targets respawn after a while, you can continuously hunt them by moving from one target to another. By the time you finish a full cycle, the earlier targets will have respawned, allowing for an efficient farming loop.

Dispatching Pal Expeditions

After reaching Level 15, you can unlock and build the Pal Expedition Station. This structure allows you to send Pal expeditions to areas where you have defeated Tower Bosses. Over 50% of the expedition locations have a guaranteed chance of rewarding Ancient Pal Manuscripts.

Forest’s Secret Realm: 7-10 Ancient Pal Manuscripts

Astral Frost Cavern: 15-7 Ancient Pal Manuscripts
Celestial Sakura Cavern: 17-20 Ancient Pal Manuscripts
Dark Cave of Feybreak: 20-22 Ancient Pal Manuscripts
Ancient Feybreak Remains: 30-50 Ancient Pal Manuscripts

The Ancient Feybreak Remains, unlocked after defeating the Feybreak Island Tower Boss on Hard difficulty, is the best location for farming Ancient Pal Manuscripts. It also provides different Slab Fragments, which are required for summoning Raid Bosses.

For early-game players, it is recommended to send expeditions to Verdant Hollow and Forest’s Secret Realm, as they only require defeating Level 15 Zoe & Grizzbolt and Level 25 Lily & Lyleen Tower Bosses.

They are used in the Pal Labor Research Laboratory to improve work-related skills such as Kindling, Watering, and Handiwork. Unlike standard upgrades, these manuscripts contribute to a structured skill tree, allowing you to specialize in different research paths and improve the overall efficiency of Pals in your bases.

You can unlock the Pal Labor Research Laboratory at Level 20, requiring 10 Ingot and 10 Paldium Fragment to construct. This building is vital for refining task efficiency by enabling research into various work suitabilities.

With nine different research trees, each containing 13 to 20 levels, upgrades often demand a variety of materials. These include common resources like Cloth and Nail, as well as rarer items such as Ancient Civilization Parts and Ancient Civilization Cores.
