Just like any other open-world survival game, you're going to need to adapt quickly to the harsh weather in Palworld. Not only will you need to prepare for extremely hot temperatures, but the bitter and intense cold will affect your character and make you lose HP fast, as well.

Luckily, there are some early-game solutions to help you survive the cold and continue on your journey, using only basic materials that are easy to obtain. This guide will show you how you can properly protect yourself from the cold, especially during your first few nights in the new and unfamiliar world.

How to Stay Warm in Palworld

As you begin your adventure through Palworld, you'll notice that there are many different buildings and items you can craft. After doing a bit of foraging for wood and stone, you'll be able to visit the Technology section under the main menu. Here, you can unlock new recipes, with a few that have the use of keeping you warm:

Hand-held Torch (Level 1)
Campfire (Level 2)
Cloth Outfit (Level 4)
Tundra Outfit (Level 9)

As you first start, you'll most likely only have access to creating a Campfire or Hand-Held Torch. These will keep you warm throughout the cold nights, although you'll have to stay near the fire when using a Campfire. The Hand-Held Torch and Cloth Outfit will allow you to move around at night. Campfires will also keep you warm at your base while you sleep in your bed at night. Eventually, you'll be exposed to freezing temperatures, which is where the Tundra Outfit will be needed.

Keep in mind that you'll need to manually unlock the Campfire recipe, which you can unlock in the Technology section if you have an available Skill Point.

Where to Find Materials in Palworld

To create these four items to keep yourself warm, you'll need to gather a fair bit of materials. In this section, we will show you where you can pick up all the required materials for each recipe to survive the cold nights.

Item	Recipe	Location
Campfire	10x Wood	Found through foraging Wood pieces on the ground, or hitting trees with your hands/weapon.
Hand-Held Torch	2x Wood	Trees and foraging.
Hand-Held Torch	2x Stone	Found through foraging Stone pieces on the ground, and hitting large rocks with your hands/weapon.
Cloth Outfit	2x Cloth	Can be crafted from Wool, an item dropped by Lamballs. You can either defeat or catch a Lamball, and they'll provide you with Wool. You can then unlock the Cloth crafting recipe from the Technology section in the main menu.
Tundra Outfit	3x Cloth	Can be crafted from Wool.
Tundra Outfit	2x Ice Organ	Dropped by Ice-type Pals, including Pengullets. You can either catch them or defeat them, and they're usually located near water.
