Palworld's highly anticipated Tides of Terraria update has officially debuted, bringing the worlds of both games together in an epic collaboration. In this update, players can storm dungeons to face off against Terraria foes, capture unique Pals, and gear up for the ultimate battle against the Moon Lord.
While epic Raid Battles and new islands to explore are some of the most exciting additions, fishing has also made its debut in Palworld. This new feature allows players to capture Pals and even salvage valuable resources from the sea. Here’s an in-depth guide to fishing in Palworld.
Palworld: How To Use The Global Palbox
The Global Palbox has arrived to Palworld, giving players the long-awaited ability to transfer Pals to different worlds. Here is how it works.
How to Craft a Fishing Rod in Palworld
Before players can start fishing in Palworld, they’ll first need to craft their very own Fishing Rod. There are currently three different types of Fishing Rods available, each becoming progressively more effective at catching both Pals and valuable resources while fishing. All Fishing Rods can be crafted at a Production Assembly Line.
Here’s a quick breakdown of each Fishing Rod and the materials required to craft them:
-
Beginner Fishing Set (Level 15): 10
Paldium Fragments, 3
Pal Fluids, 8
Ingots, and 8

-
Intermediate Fishing Rod (Level 28): 30

-

Players will also need to craft Bait, which can be made on a Primitive Workbench, High Quality Workbench, or the Production Assembly Line. Players will unlock Simple Bait when unlocking the Beginner Fishing Set. However, to make fishing easier, players can also unlock additional Baits. Here is a breakdown of all the types of Bait players can get in Palworld:
-

How to Fish in Palworld
Once players have gotten hold of a Fishing Rod and Bait, they can begin fishing to capture Pals. To fish in Palworld, players need to locate fishing spots, which are indicated by the shadows of fish in bodies of water. These shadows can appear in virtually any body of water across all regions in the game. Once a fishing spot has been found, players can press the Cast button to cast their line into the water. Doing so will consume one bait.
From there, players must wait for two exclamation marks to appear. Once that happens, they can press the same button to reel in their catch. This triggers a short minigame, where the goal is to fill a capture gauge by keeping a golden fish icon overlapping with a green bar, which players can control by holding and releasing the Pull Lure button. The size of the green bar will vary depending on the type of bait the player is using.
Once the bar is filled, the minigame is complete, and the player will capture a random Pal. The Pal received is completely dependent on the region players are fishing in, but players can get an idea of the rarity based on the visual effects given off by the fish shadows beforehand:
- Normal Shadow: Pal of base rarity
- Purple Particles: Potential Alpha Pal
- Green Particles: Pal with a potential Rainbow Passive
- Purple Particles & Glow: Potential Alpha Pal with a Rainbow Passive
For players looking to fish from the comfort of their own base, they can also build a Fishing Pond. Fishing Ponds can vary in size, with each one providing the opportunity to catch larger Pals. Here is a breakdown of the Fishing Ponds players can get in Palworld:
-
Fishing Pond (Level 31): 40
Wood, 5
Cement, 10
Pal Fluids
-
Large Fishing Pond (Level 55): 60
Wood, 20
Stone, 10 Plasteel, 20
High Quality Pal Oil
How to Collect Salvage in Palworld
On top of capturing Pals, players can also use their Fishing Rod to salvage resources at sea. To do this, players must head out onto the water and locate salvage spots, which appear as pieces of wreckage floating in the ocean. To salvage, players will need a Water Mount and a Fishing Rod. Some salvage spots may also require a Powerful Fishing Magnet, which is unlocked at Level 61 and crafted using one Hexolite.
Once a salvage spot has been located, players can interact with it by pressing their interaction key. This will trigger a mini-game, where players must stop a green bar on a yellow line to complete it successfully. If successful, they’ll be rewarded with random resources.
