Palworld update 0.6.2 is now available for download across PC and consoles. This release introduces fixes for a handful of Palworld bugs, some more critical than others.

The most widespread issue that the new patch attempts to address concerns an autosave bug affecting the PlayStation 5 version of the game. The now-infamous issue first started surfacing in mid-April 2025, around the time developer Pocketpair rolled out Palworld's 0.5.3 update. Since then, plenty of PS5 players have experienced autosaves failing and even corrupting their save data, causing massive loss of progress in some cases. Pocketpair repeatedly confirmed it was investigating the situation, eventually announcing that it had finally identified the root cause of the issue in early July 2025.

Palworld's ground mounts are the fastest way to travel by land, and there's a way to rank them based on speed and utility.

The fix for Palworld's frustrating save file bug started rolling out on Thursday, July 10, as part of an update bumping the game's version number up to 0.6.2. As per Pocketpair's previously reported findings, the game-breaking bug stemmed from a mishandling of player data when too many save files accumulated. To address the problem, the Japanese studio has limited the number of PS5 save files to ten and introduced additional improvements aimed at making the saving system more stable and robust. Players who had more than ten save slots before the update won't have them automatically deleted after they upgrade to the latest build of the game.

Palworld Players Who Have Already Lost Save Data Are Out of Luck

While the fixes are now being rolled out, Palworld players who have already lost their save data on the PS5 to corruption are out of luck. Those who have previously seen the dreaded "CE-100022-5" or "CE-100096-6" errors are almost certain to encounter them again, even if they manage to load their saves, as the data is already corrupted, according to Pocketpair.

Recovering an uncorrupted save from a cloud backup is a possibility for PS Plus subscribers, provided they had backed up their data in the first place. Otherwise, PS5 users affected by the issue have little choice but to delete their save data and start over. Pocketpair has repeatedly apologized for the inconvenience. While frustrating for affected players, issues like these remain a possibility as long as Palworld remains an early access title.

The 0.6.2 patch also fixes a bug with the Dimensional Pal Storage feature dating back to Palworld's 0.5.0 update, where Pals could disappear in some edge-case scenarios. Additional memory optimizations are part of the package as well, geared toward improving stability and reducing the likelihood of crashes during prolonged play sessions. An Xbox-specific fix is also included, resolving a situation where "graphics would deteriorate greatly" under specific conditions, according to Pocketpair’s latest changelog, though no further details were provided.
