Palworld has released its game-changing Home Sweet Home update, bringing with it a host of additions, improvements, and even a brand-new crossover with another popular Early Access title. The latest Palworld update is available now on all platforms, and has the potential to fundamentally change how the game is played with one specific new feature.

Upon Palworld's Early Access launch, it became an enormous success among gamers. It gained the informal nickname of "Pokemon with guns" across the gaming community, a hook strong enough to entice plenty to give it a try. Palworld swiftly smashed massive sales milestones, and even managed an incredible peak concurrent player count of over 2.1 million on Steam. That kind of momentum was always going to be challenging to maintain over a long period, but Palworld has maintained a strong community since the early 2024 Early Access launch. Along the way, developer Pocketpair has continued to steadily update the game with new features over the last two years, and it frequently sees notable spikes in player count when substantial new content is released.

A Palworld player is sharing their impressive build within the survival game, constructing a spiral staircase tower standing over 137 levels tall.

The full patch notes for Palworld's new Home Sweet Home update can be found on Steam. The headline addition for Palworld v.0.7 is the new ULTRAKILL collaboration, which adds weapons and armor from the popular Early Access indie title. Palworld fans can now play as V1 and V2, and Pocketpair has even added a unique coin toss mechanic, as seen in ULTRAKILL. There have been some important base-building improvements in the Home Sweet Home update, too. The building UI is now a list-based system, while 48 new building parts have been added. This includes triangular pieces for the first time, which could be a game-changer for builders. Players can now change the color of some buildings and foundations, allowing players to express themselves more in their creations.

That's only the tip of the iceberg for the new Palworld update, though. In Home Sweet Home, Pocketpair has implemented tools to allow players to set up Palworld PvP combat on their own servers, but admits that "it's hard to fully integrate PvP into the game." At the moment, PvP is still marked as an experimental feature, and the developer says that players should expect balance issues with the current implementation. On the Steam version, Pocketpair has officially added Steam Workshop support, making it easier to download mods. It does note that some servers, including official servers, do not allow the use of mods, which is why they're only recommended for use by the developer "in single-player or with your friends."

There are also some big improvements for melee gameplay, which Pocketpair claims "is often overlooked in the late game." Basic attacks for swords, katanas, and beam swords have been changed. Players can now perform consecutive attacks by spamming the attack button, while special attacks have now been added to katanas and beam swords. According to the developer, this is only the first attempt at improving Palworld's melee combat, with more improvements on the way as the game heads into 1.0.

Palworld New Building Pieces

It's expected that Palworld will continue to aim for a 1.0 release in 2026, although it's not clear exactly when in the year this will land. By the time it releases, Palworld will have been in Early Access for over two years, and it's fair to say that it has made great use of that process. Perhaps some would have liked Palworld to reach Early Access in a quicker fashion, but that may have resulted in less substantial content for players.
