The open world of Palworld is vast, and you'll need more than your own two legs to carry you through it. Luckily, Pals can be used as mounts, and that includes ones with four legs, ones with no legs, and those that fly high in the sky.

Palworld Multiplayer Not Working for Many Players

Palworld's multiplayer features appear to be completely broken for many players mere hours after Pocketpair's latest game reached early access.

Flying mounts can be accessed relatively early in the game , and the process is quite easy, too, assuming you've made enough progress with your character. Here's everything you need to know about Palworld's flying mounts.

Where to Get Flying Mounts in Palworld

To get a flying mount, you'll first need to catch a large Pal that can fly. The first such monster you'll encounter are Nitewings, eagle-like Pals that you can often see flying between the Grassy Behemoth Hills and Fort Ruins waypoints. Their levels range between nine and 11 in this region, and you'll need a good ranged weapon or a strong starter Pal if you want to fight one.

Capturing a Nitewing can be hard with just a normal Pal Sphere, so use Mega or Giga spheres (or just bring a ton of normal spheres) to increase your chances of nabbing one. Once the bird is captured, you'll need to craft a saddle for it by unlocking the Nitewing Saddle blueprint at the tech tree once you reach Level 15. Afterward, craft the saddle at a Pal Gear Workbench to unlock the ability to mount a Nitewing.

If you want to fly on a different type of flying Pal, you'll have to unlock and craft different saddles. Vanwyrms are an example of a Fire-type Pal that you can find west of the Ravine Entrance waypoint. Catch one and reach Level 21 to unlock the Vanwyrm Saddle recipe.

To ride your flying mount (on PC), summon it first, then hold F. Press Space to ascend, V to descend, and Shift to move faster, regardless of what axis you're moving in. Flying consumes your Pal's stamina, and completely running out of it causes both of you to plummet into the ground. Thankfully, neither you nor your Pal will take any fall damage.

One trick to use when your Pal is about to run out of stamina is to quickly dismount (hold F again) and press Space to activate your equipped parachute to extend your air time. Just be careful not to do this while you are too high up above the ground, as falling without a parachute may lead to an untimely death.
