Summary

  • Depresso may not be the strongest Pal, but its unique charm and quirky personality make it a lovable companion for certain players.
  • Arsox offers combat skills and warmth, but its fiery nature can be a hassle and even dangerous for players seeking efficiency.
  • Woolipop may be cute, but its lack of combat abilities and minimal work skills make it a questionable addition to a player's collection.

Palworld is a vibrant open-world survival game that became a major hit quickly after it's release, with popularity stemming from its mix of genres. Players will find themselves getting lost for hours building bases, gathering supplies, and taming Pals to fight their enemies. If that isn't enough, players have the option to go co-op and invite a friend to join in on the adventure.

Filled with life, Palworld offers a vast variety of ferocious and equally adorable creatures to capture and befriend, known as Pals. While some soar to the top of the tier list with impressive combat and work skills, others leave players wondering if the Pal they captured was worth the catch. It's important for players to know which Pals are going to fight side by side with them to the end, will help by building the base, or will just end up being an all-around let-down.

5 Depresso

The Pal Of Gloom

Two Depressos from Palworld

  • Common Rarity, Level 1
  • Medium-size dark-type Pal, fights best against normal

Some players will argue that there's no way Depresso isn't the most loved Pal in the game, but it's possible. Depresso is one of the cutest (objectively) Pals in the game. A cloud of doom, Depresso's defining characteristic is its constant state of sadness. It walks with a slouch, its downturned mouth mirroring its pessimistic outlook. While some find this endearing, others might find it a bit of a downer.

Palworld: The 8 Most Lethal Pals, Ranked

In Palworld, certain Pals are just downright lethal. These examples are some of the most dangerous of the bunch.

Depresso is not the most powerful pal in terms of combat, nor is it the most efficient when working at the base. Yet there's an undeniable charm that players love, keeping Depresso around as one of their adventure-ready companions anyway. The decision to catch Depresso ultimately depends on playstyle and personality. For players seeking power and efficiency, Depresso might not be their best bet. For the players who appreciate the quirky and unconventional, and perhaps even share a touch of Depresso's existential angst, this gloomy companion might just spark a unique friendship.

4 Arsox

High Heat, Low Maintenance (If You Don't Mind Being Set On Fire)

Arsox from Palworld
  • Common Rarity, Level 4
  • Medium-size, fire-type Pal, fights best against ice and leaf

Arsox is a solid pal if players don't mind the occasional inferno. They offer warmth, combat prowess, and a rideable mount to ease the strain on players' stamina in their Palworld adventures. Arsox boasts a fiery mane and a loyal companionship, but capturing this Pal can be a hassle that just isn't worth it in the long run.

Players will find themselves jumping around in flames trying to catch Arsox, questioning if it was even worth it. Arsox can be a helpful hand around bases, assisting with tasks like lumbering and kindling fires for crafting. However, its fiery nature can sometimes backfire – literally. Accidental self-inflicted burns are not uncommon with Arsox, so remember to keep a safe distance. Cuddles might be a bit too much for this hot-headed friend.

3 Chikipi

Adorable Or Delicious? That's Up To The Player

Chikipi from Palworld
  • Common Rarity, Level 1
  • Small-size, normal-type Pal, considered one of the weakest Pals in the game

Don't be fooled by its wide eyes and fluffy feathers – Chikipi is the definition of a "low-tier" Pal. Falling under the normal or neutral element type, Chikipi doesn't really deal any elemental damage against other Pals. Opponents (even the weak ones) are able to take Chikipi out rather quickly, leaving the player at a disadvantage in combat.

Palworld Player Breeds Super Overpowered Chikipi

A hardworking Palworld player shares the Chikipi they got with unusually high stats, which no one really expects from the unassuming starter Pal.

Not all Pals can hit the boxing ring, but Chikipi doesn't do well building, gathering, or working on a base either. Occasionally producing a mediocre egg that doesn't offer the player many benefits makes this Pal a pretty useless catch, unless players have got the heart to cook it.

2 Surfent Terra

This Sandy Substitute Misses The Mark

Surfent Terra from Palworld
  • Rare Rarity, Level 5
  • Medium-size, earth-type Pal, fights best against electricity

Although mountable Pals often take the cake, Surfent Terra is too slow for players to appreciate the ride. Unable to swim, players may feel limited, and will find better mounting options in the game. This ground-slithering Earth-version of the Terra tries to do a lot – sandboarding, gathering, base building – but doesn't necessarily excel in any one area. Players seeking a dedicated building companion or a top-tier combat Pal are sure to be disappointed.

Palworld: 10 Best Pals To Use Legendary Spheres On

Making Legendary Spheres is a challenge, so players need to ensure they don't waste them. The following Pals justify the use of a Legendary Sphere.

Found in the Upper East quadrant, Surfent Terra is a desert Pal, suitable for sandy conditions. Surfent Terra looks wise, embodying what players would assume an earth Pal would look like. Its gray and yellow color scheme makes this Pal easily forgettable (bad enough it's living in Terra's shadows). If players really want to give Surfent Terra a go and don't want to waste time catching this Pal, it can be bought from the merchant found in Duneshelter.

1 Woolipop

Utterly Cute And Extremely Useless

palworld-player-accidentally-breeds-op-woolipop
  • Common Rarity, Level
  • Medium-size, normal-type Pal, considered one of the weakest Pals in the game

Woolipop's entire being is dedicated to sweetness, leaving no room for the gamer looking to survive Palworld's vicious Pals. Woolipop lacks any offensive or defensive abilities, leaving it defenseless against even the weakest foes. Bringing a Woolipop to a battle is literally bringing a cotton candy cloud to a sword fight – not exactly a recipe for success.

While some Pals offer valuable work skills on base, Woolipop contributes in a way that's more aesthetic than actually helpful. Its work skill involves dropping cotton candy which the player can eat, offering the least nutritional value (besides maybe Chikipi). Woolipops' lack of combat ability and minimal work contribution make it a questionable addition to a player's collection, unless they love adorable, pink-colored sheep.
