A surprise "mini" Nintendo Direct presentation was given this morning. During the 30 minute presentation, Nintendo announced a variety of game titles and updates for the Nintendo Switch. Among those titles was a surprise announcement for the release of the Panzer Dragoon remake.

The original Panzer Dragoon released in 1995 on the Sega Saturn. A remake for the game was announced during a Nintendo Direct early in 2019, but was given a winter release date window, though not much was known about the release until today.

At the beginning of the Nintendo Direct, a statement is made regarding some title releases subject to change because of the COVID-19 virus. However, since the Panzer Dragoon remake was scheduled to release as a timed-exclusive today, it is already available in the Nintendo Switch Shop.

Panzer Dragoon is also scheduled for a VR game in the future, but not much is known about which VR console it will be released on. The Nintendo Switch remake is based on the original Panzer Dragoon, the VR game will be a rework of the three games in the series. However, the original creator of Panzer Dragoon is not involved in the process of creating both games, so hopefully, the creators preserve the nostalgia of the 1995 classic.

Panzer Dragoon is available now, exclusively on the Nintendo Switch.
