Blasphemy is a Meta Skill in Path of Exile 2 that can be confusing to a lot of players. Unlike most other Skills, Blasphemy follows its own rules, which those who want to use it will have to understand.

Blasphemy has the ability to turn debuff Curse skills into persistent Auras that turn the area immediately around the player into a death zone. With the right build and setup, this Skill can be a game-changer. Here is how it works.

How to Use Blasphemy in PoE 2

activating blasphemy in path of exile 2

The Blasphemy Skill Gem can be unlocked using a Level 8 Uncut Spirit Gem (or above). In order to use it, follow these steps:

  1. Place the Blasphemy Skill Gem into an empty Skill slot.
  2. Place at least one Curse Skill Gem (like Enfeeble, Despair, etc.) In a support slot.
  3. Right-click the Blasphemy icon to activate it (requires 60 Spirit per slotted Curse skill).

Blasphemy will only work when there is a Curse skill in a support slot.

The following are the requirements to use a Level 8 Blasphemy Gem:

  • A Curse Skill Gem
  • 60 Spirit
  • 61 Intelligence
  • Level 26

Adding Quality to Blasphemy by using Gemcutter's Prism reduces the Spirit Reservation required for each Curse Gem.

How Does Blasphemy Work in PoE 2

Blasphemy has the following effects:

Blasphemy Description

Turn socketed Curse skills into vile Auras, applying their effects to all nearby enemies.

Socketed Curse Skills apply in an Aura around you

Reserves 60 Spirit per socketed Curse

Supported Curses have (41–50)% less Magnitudes (Scales with Blasphemy Level)

Socketed Skills have +1 meter to base radius

Additional Effects From Quality:

(0–10)% reduced Reservation

The Blasphemy meta skill converts Curse skills into Aura skills centered around the player character. If an enemy walks within range, the Curse effects are automatically applied to them for as long as they remain within that range.

Blasphemy requires at least one socketed Curse to function. Curses are typically Skills that can be obtained using Uncut Skill Gems of the appropriate level. The remaining support sockets can be used for Support Gems like Heightened Curse and Mysticism.

Additionally, Blasphemy reduces the effectiveness of the Socketed Curse by 50%. Increasing the level of the Blasphemy Gem will decrease this debuff up to a maximum of 41% at Level 19.

How to Apply Multiple Curses With Blasphemy in PoE 2

In Path of Exile 2, just like in Path of Exile 1, the curse limit is set to 1, which means that a target can only have one Curse applied to them at one time. If you socket two Curse Skills in Blasphemy, only one of the two will be applied to the enemies that get into range, even if you have the necessary Spirit for it. Luckily, players can circumvent this restriction and increase the limit through the following methods.

  1. Whispers of Doom Passive: This is a Keystone in the northern section of the passive tree.
  2. Doedre's Damning Lazuli Ring (Unique): This is a Unique Ring with an ilevel 75 global drop, which means it starts dropping from Level 75+ enemies.
  3. Dominion Over Flesh (Lich Ascendancy): Witches that choose the Lich Ascendancy will need 4 points to reach this passive.

If you have Whispers of Doom, Doedre's Damning Ring, and Dominion Over Flesh, your Curse Limit will be raised to 4. Actually using this with Blasphemy, however, would require a whopping 240 Spirit.
