The Sidekick addon is a third-party application that runs alongside Path of Exile 2 which adds a variety of useful and convenient features to the game with custom shortcuts. Follow this guide to understand what Sidekick is, what features it adds, and how to install Sidekick to improve your PoE 2 experience.
Path of Exile 2 Sidekick Features Overview
Map & Boss Information
- Default Command: CTRL-X while hovering over a Waystone or Boss
One of the most useful features of Path of Exile 2 Sidekick is its ability to display information about a selected Waystone and the danger level of a map. The Map Information feature will displa y a quick overview of the Waystone modifiers and their approximate danger level. If a modifier for a Waystone makes the map unsafe, it will be highlighted at the top of this tooltip-style menu.
This same command can be used to see information about Bosses and the items they may drop. Hover over a boss and press CTRL-X to see this display.
Item Price Check
- Default Command: CTRL-D while hovering over an Item
This Path of Exile 2 Sidekick feature allows players to check the current trading price for an item in their inventory. After hovering over an item and pressing the CTRL-D command, the Sidekick addon will bring up a search box allowing you to see the approximate value of the selected item.
Because just about everything in the game can be traded – even uniques – this is a great way to decide whether to sell, disenchant, or list an item. If you think it's worth listing an item instead of Disenchanting it, use this command to see what other similar pieces of equipment are going for.
Item Search
- Default Command: CTRL-F
The Item Search feature for PoE 2 Sidekick allows players to search their entire combined Inventories for specific items. After getting a good way into the game, and especially in the endgame, you will likely have a huge number of extra items sitting in a difficult-to-sort Stash.
By pressing CTRL-F, players can search their combined on-hand and Stash inventories, significantly cutting down the time it takes to find a specific thing in the often-cluttered Stash. This also works for the Passive Skill Tree and highlights Jewels that you may have equipped.
Path of Exile 2: All Crowd Control Effects
Crowd Control effects play a huge part in Path of Exile 2's combat, often in ways that not all players know about.
New Chat Commands
A handy, but small, feature included with PoE 2 Sidekick is the addition of a few convenient Chat Command shortcuts. These shortcuts include;
- Go To Hideout: F5
- Leave Party: F4
- Reply To Last Whisper: CTRL-Shift-R
- Exit To Character Screen: F9
Essentially, these shortcuts will automatically type out and execute their associated commands without having to open up Chat. More PoE 2 Sidekick Chat Commands are likely to be added as it continues to be updated, but for now, these four commands make a few things in the game a bit more convenient.
PoE 2 Wiki
- Default Command: Alt-W while hovering over an item
One useful feature for players keen on expanding their Path of Exile 2 game knowledge is Sidekick's ability to open up a Path of Exile 2 Wiki for any highlighted item. By pressing Alt-W while hovering over an item, the game will open up your preferred browser to the Wiki page for that item.
You can customize which Wiki the addon redirects to in the Sidekick Settings, by clicking on the addon icon on your taskbar. Though the game does a great job of explaining mechanics, especially compared to Path of Exile 1, having a convenient way to access the PoE 2 Wiki in-game can make things much easier to understand.
How To Install PoE 2 Sidekick
To get the Path of Exile 2 Sidekick addon, go to the official Sidekick page on GitHub.
- Download the Sidekick addon with the "INSTALLER" button, then run the Sidekick application once it has completed downloading.
- Confirm on the pop-up that appears, and allow the addon to install itself.
Sidekick should automatically recognize your Path of Exile 2 install location. Once it's finished installing, the application will start to run in the background. If you want to change any settings before playing, open up the Settings menu by clicking the icon on your taskbar.
- Launch Path of Exile 2 and ensure that the game is running in Fullscreen mode. Sidekick will not run with the game in either Windowed or Borderless Windowed mode.
- Once you are in-game, test out some commands to ensure the addon is working, and enjoy your enhanced PoE 2 experience!
When you are finished with your PoE 2 session, remember to close both the game and the Sidekick application separately. Sidekick will not automatically launch with the game, nor will it close at the same time, as it runs separately from PoE 2.
