How to Find Hive Colony in Path of Exile

Hive Colonies are level 83 Breach encounters that can only be found in Tier 13+ maps in PoE's endgame. Using a Hivebrain Gland map fragment alongside your map in the map device guarantees the presence of a Hive Colony in that map, though they can also appear randomly in any Tier 13 or higher map.

How to Get Hivebrain Glands

There are four ways to obtain Hivebrain Glands in PoE:

  • Defeating Vruun, Marshal of Xesht: Unstable Breach boss that has a chance to appear when clearing Unstable Breaches.
  • Clearing Hive Fortress: Hive Fortress is a sub-area Breach encounter that can randomly appear in any tier of maps. There is a chance to obtain Hivebrain Glands upon successful completion.
