Payday 3’s official social media teased new content coming on May 26. This announcement gives hope to the Payday 3 community, which has been eagerly awaiting fresh content for the game after months of silence.
Payday 3 was released in September 2023 and had a rocky first year, moving from launch-day crashes and clunky matchmaking to a gradually improving live service. Thanks to various content updates, Payday 3 gathered mainly positive reviews on Steam, but the lack of fresh content over the past few months lowered this rating. The latest Payday 3 update introduced cosmetic elements, while fans were hoping for new heists or fresh content to get back into action.
Payday 3 Gets Surprise Collaboration With One of 2012's Best Games
Starbreeze Studios announces a surprising collaboration with one of 2012's best games, coming soon to Payday 3.
On its official Twitter account, Payday 3 teased an upcoming content announcement scheduled for May 26. This tease comes as an answer to a Payday 3 fan asking for fresh content, while the game is at a 60% discount on Steam. In November 2024, Starbreeze announced that it would scale back its development team and significantly lower investment as Payday 3 entered year two. The company explained that after fixing the major issues that plagued Payday 3 upon its launch, the development team could now focus on other projects. This doesn’t seem to mean that Payday 3 won’t receive any additional content, as more information about what’s next for the heist FPS seems to be approaching on May 26.
New Content Might Be Coming To Payday 3
Details on the May update are scarce, but community chatter centers on Armor 2.0, the revamped protection system promised last year yet delayed by backend issues and prioritization challenges. Payday 3’s Armor 2.0 would introduce new armor customization options, features teased in developer blogs but sidelined with no release window. If delivered, it would allow players to better customize their experience and prepare new strategies for high-risk heists, potentially bringing back veteran players on Payday 3.
Beyond Armor 2.0, many hope for a brand-new heist mission to drop in the next update. The First World Bank heist returned to Payday 3 last December, bringing back this fan-favorite mission from previous installments in the franchise. Since then, no new missions have been added to Payday 3, leaving players with a lack of content that has impacted their overall satisfaction with the game. Rumors of a crossover between Payday 3 and Fortnite could bring back players with themed skins, emotes, or even missions, but neither company confirmed a collaboration. Payday 3 fans will have to wait until the end of May to know what’s next for the heist shooter.
