PC Game Pass Adds Definitive Editions of 2 Beloved RPG Classics

The PC Game Pass content catalog has expanded to include the Enhanced Editions of Baldur's Gate and Baldur's Gate 2. These are the sole PC-only additions to Xbox Game Pass that have so far been confirmed for October 2025.

When a title is added to Xbox Game Pass, its PC and console versions typically become available simultaneously, provided both of them exist. Though Microsoft's subscription service rarely deviates from this pattern, exceptions do exist. For instance, the console version of Kingdom Two Crowns was added to Xbox Game Pass back in February, but its PC counterpart didn't arrive until June 2025.

Baldur's Gate 1 and 2 Reach PC Game Pass 4 Months After XGP Ultimate Debut

Another staggered release has now been completed earlier today, October 8, when Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition and Baldur's Gate 2: Enhanced Edition reached the PC Game Pass library. Beamdog's remasters of BioWare's beloved RPG classics were originally added to Xbox Game Pass for consoles on June 5. Neither Microsoft nor Beamdog provided an official reason why the PC versions, originally released in the 2012–2013 period, were omitted from the service at the time. Xbox Game Pass did technically offer a way to play this RPG duo on PC over the past four months, but only by streaming it via Xbox Cloud Gaming.

The first two Baldur's Gate games are critically acclaimed and widely beloved, with the second one often being hailed as one of the most influential RPGs of its time. Both are praised for great writing, detailed environments, and meaningful choices that lend themselves to high replayability. As such, the definitive editions of Baldur's Gate 1 and 2 significantly bolster the ever-growing selection of compelling RPGs on PC Game Pass.

Another half a dozen titles are confirmed to be coming to Xbox Game Pass in the first half of October 2025. The first of those is Supermassive's interactive horror drama The Casting of Frank Stone, scheduled to arrive on October 14. It will be followed by The Grinch: Christmas Adventures and the day-one release of Ball x Pitt a day later. October 15 is also the day Xbox Game Pass Premium is receiving three titles that are already available to PC- and Ultimate-tier subscribers: Eternal Strands, He Is Coming, and Ninja Gaiden 2 Black.

New and Upcoming Xbox Game Pass Games

Looking further ahead, Pax Dei and Keeper are set to drop on October 16 and 17, respectively. The Wave 1 Xbox Game Pass lineup for this month will be rounded out by Evil West and the day-one release of Ninja Gaiden 4, both scheduled for October 21.
