The Roots update is finally here in the viral co-op game PEAK. Like the last update, it comes with a new biome with its own set of challenges for players to tackle. In addition to that, the update also adds plenty of new items. One of them is the Checkpoint Flags, which players are already loving.
Checkpoint Flags might not look that important at first, but they are actually pretty handy once you know how to use them. Before you can make the most of these flags, though, you will need to understand what they do. Here’s a quick guide on how Checkpoint Flags work in PEAK.
PEAK: What Does Fortified Milk Do?
The Roots update in PEAK has introduced a mysterious drinkable item called Fortified Milk. Here’s what it does.
What are Checkpoint Flags in PEAK?
Checkpoint Flags are exactly what they sound like. They are a way to set your own respawn point in the game. When you place it, it creates a checkpoint so that if you die, you will come back right where you put it. They are really useful and can save you a ton of time, especially when the climb gets rough.
It is important to note that Checkpoint Flags are a one-time use item. Once you die and respawn, the flag disappears. Fans can place it anywhere, including the new ROOTS biome. The best part is that you come back with full health when you respawn.
You can find Checkpoint Flags inside luggage boxes. There are plenty of those scattered around, but the flags themselves are pretty rare. So, if you are hoping to get one, make sure to open as many luggage boxes as you can.
To get the most out of your Checkpoint Flags, you should avoid dropping them right at the start of a biome. If you use it early, you will just end up respawning all the way back there when you die. It’s better to save them for tougher sections so you can pick up right where you left off instead of climbing all the way again.
The best time to use a Checkpoint Flag is before a tough climb. It’s a great safety net if things go wrong. But, there’s a small downside. If you actually make it past the challenging climb and then die later, you will respawn back where you placed the flag. This means that you’ll have to do that tricky part all over again.
Using a Checkpoint Flag won’t earn you any achievement, but it can definitely save your life. This will make it easier for you to complete other achievements later on.
