In PEAK, your survival often depends on the tools you find. You’ll find a bunch of creative and unexpected tools, but only a few are as strange and effective as the Magic Bean. At first glance, it might seem like a quirky item in PEAK, but these magical beans can be a literal lifesaver if you know how to use them correctly in PEAK. If you’ve come across one and aren’t sure what it’s for, or you’re wondering how to find a Magic Bean in the first place, read on.
PEAK: Where to Find the Chain Launcher (& How to Use it)
The Chain Launcher is a handy tool to have in your inventory in PEAK. Here’s where you can find one.
How to Get Magic Beans in PEAK
The Magic Bean is a special traversal tool that you can find while exploring. It’s one of the rarest finds in PEAK and players will usually have to go through multiple runs before they can find it. Since the PEAK's maps are procedurally generated, there isn't a single, fixed location where you can always find a Magic Bean.
To get your hands on a Magic Bean, you need to thoroughly explore each biome, especially the Shore and Alpine biomes. Keep an eye out for a small, red bean when you're out looting.
In solo play, if you reach the end of a biome, the Ancient Statue (which is normally used for reviving players) will grant you a random mystical item. The Magic Bean is considered one of these rare, mystical items, so this is another possible way to get it. However, in our dozen hours of solo gameplay, we weren’t able to get one from it.
How to Use Magic Beans in PEAK
Once you get your hands on a Magic Bean in PEAK, you’ll quickly see why it’s one of the most useful climbing tools in the game. The Magic Bean lets you reach otherwise inaccessible places by growing into a really tall vertical beanstalk that works like a natural climbing pole. This is super helpful when you’re blocked by sheer cliffs or trying to reach elevated areas that Ropes and Pitons just can’t touch.
Using a Magic Bean is pretty straightforward: simply take the bean from your inventory, throw it onto a surface, and watch it sprout instantly into a tall, climbable structure. It’s often the only way to reach things like floating luggage or distant ledges that have no natural path.
For best results, save it for areas where you’re stuck without a climbable route. It can be a true game-changer when used wisely.
