Popular co-op title Peak has received its first major content update, adding a brand-new biome to the game, new items, and other surprises alongside bug fixes. The indie title from Another Crab's Treasure developer, Aggro Crab, and the Swedish indie studio Landfall, continues to be incredibly popular, and this latest update will likely keep Peak at the top of the Steam charts.
Impressively, Peak initially started out as a Game Jam title, eventually evolving into a full-fledged title that launched on Steam on June 16, 2025. From there its popularity spread like wildfire, with Peak eventually selling over 5 million copies in just a month, pushing the developers to continue updating the title. The game has seen plenty of smaller updates, but recently, Aggro Crab has continued to tease Peak's first major update, a patch that introduces a bunch of new content and cosmetics for players to dig into.
Developers of Popular Co-Op Game Would Rather Players Pirate It Than Play a Blatant Roblox Knock-Off
Developers of a hugely popular co-op Steam game say they would rather have players pirate it than play a blatant Roblox knock-off.
For many fans, the biggest piece of the Mesa Update for Peak is the new biome itself, which developer Aggro Crab showcased in a short trailer. For the next week following this update, the Mesa will be replacing the Alpine location in every single run that players undertake. However, after that point, the maps will randomize between the two, adding an element of uncertainty to runs. As the trailer teases, players appear to have plenty of new elements to contend with, including a tornado as well as the hot sun.
The help players, Aggro Crab has added new items to find on their climb, like Sunscreen and Aloe Vera, balloons, and even parasols to help block out the sun's effects. There are tumbleweeds that roll across the map, and players can add scout cannons to their available selection of Peak climbing tools to help reach higher ledges in their pursuit of conquering the landscape. Dynamite has also been included in this update, which could present a number of opportunities for trolls to potentially mess with their fellow players.
So far, 2025 has been a huge year for fans of co-op games, as there have already been a variety of games that have found their way near the top of sales charts. In terms of indie titles, REPO, Peak, and Schedule 1 have all seen major success this year, furthering the dominance that co-op games have seen on Steam in particular. For the AAA crowd, Elden Ring Nightreign and Monster Hunter Wilds have also seen their fair share of popularity at times as well, with both games continuing to push out new updates and content for players.

PEAK is a co-op climbing game where the slightest mistake can spell your doom. Either solo or as a group of lost nature scouts, your only hope of rescue from a mysterious island is to scale the mountain at its center. Do you have what it takes to reach the PEAK?
WORK TOGETHER
Need a Hand? You’ll need to rely on your friends to have any hope of scaling the mountain, which changes each time you play. Help each other up ledges, or place ropes and climbing spikes to make the way easier for those who come after.
CLIMB
The Mountain Takes no Prisoners! Climb through 4 biomes on your way to the PEAK, each with their own life-threatening obstacles. You’ll need to scavenge for questionable food to survive, and manage your injuries carefully - every setback limits your stamina, making it harder to climb.
SURVIVE
Prepare For the Worst: Discover a variety of helpful survival items, from energy drinks to climbing spikes to the mysterious Anti-Rope. You’ve got no hope of making it to the PEAK unless you press every advantage given to you.
A NEW ISLAND EACH DAY
The game's map rotates out every 24 hours! Try out the new layout each day, or give the same island multiple attempts in a day until you conquer it.
EARN BADGES
A Well-Seasoned Scout: Show off your survival prowess with dozens of badges to earn and cosmetics to unlock.
CLIMBING IS BETTER WITH FRIENDS
Multiplayer in PEAK is friends-only - invite up to three other scouts through Steam to climb together, or face the mountain alone if you're really brave!
