What Does the Flare in PEAK DO?

While it won’t heal you or revive you directly, the Flare’s purpose is to get you the help you need when things go south. It is a throwable item that doubles as a visual SOS signal, releasing brightly colored smoke that is visible from long distances.

Once deployed, a Flare creates a smoke cloud that your teammates can follow to locate its source. This makes it much easier for other players to find you if you’ve been separated. It’s especially useful for regrouping with your team, or for marking important spots like campfires, rope anchors, or valuable item locations in PEAK.

Since the Flare doesn't mention why it was used, players won’t know the exact reason for the signal until they reach the spot themselves.

How and When to Use the Flare in PEAK

Just like most items in PEAK, you can pick up the Flare and then activate it when it's in your active inventory slot. Once activated, it will shine a bright light. After it’s lit, you can drop or throw the Flare by pressing or holding the Q key. This will leave behind a colored smoke trail, the same color as your character's model.

The Flare is a single-use item, and its smoke signal only lasts for a short duration. Make sure to use it wisely so that it has the maximum impact when you need it most.

Regrouping With Teammates

If someone gets left behind or the team becomes scattered, a Flare can signal a common location for everyone to meet up.
