In PEAK, some tools don’t just help you climb, they completely change how you move through the unforgiving world. The Chain Launcher is one of those rare items in PEAK. It’s not something you’ll stumble across early on, but once you find it, it opens up entirely new ways to get through the PEAK's toughest challenges. If you’re not entirely sure where to find the Chain Launcher and how to actually use it once it’s in your hands, read on.

Where to Find the Chain Launcher in PEAK?

The Chain Launcher is more likely to appear in later biomes like Alpine and Caldera, where you need more advanced tools to progress. Like other items in PEAK, the location of the Chain Launcher changes with each run. You can find the Chain Launcher at the Ancient Statues near the campsites at the summit of each level or inside scattered plane luggage.

How to Use the Chain Launcher in PEAK

How to Use the Chain Launcher in PEAK

The Chain Launcher is one of PEAK’s most practical traversal tools. When activated, the Chain Launcher fires a chain in an arcing trajectory from your current position toward the direction you’re aiming. If it successfully connects with a solid surface, it creates a horizontal bridge between those two points. This chain bridge can be walked across by you and your teammates in PEAK.

To use the Chain Launcher, follow the steps below:

  1. Equip the Chain Launcher from your inventory.
  2. Aim at a solid surface across a gap, water body, or ledge.
  3. Fire the launcher, and if the chain anchors successfully, a bridge will form.
  4. Cross immediately.

The Chain Launcher only works horizontally, so it won’t help you climb up or descend steep vertical surfaces. For that, you’ll need a Rope Cannon or Anti-Rope Spool.

When to Use the Chain Launcher in PEAK

The Chain Launcher can completely save your life at the right moment, but it can be easily wasted if fired carelessly. It’s best to save it and use it in situations like:

  • Crossing large gaps that are too far to jump or climb across.
  • Helping teammates catch up by giving them a way to cross spaces you’ve already crossed.
  • Getting past water bodies, lava flows, or unstable terrain that would otherwise drain stamina or pose a hazard.
  • Creating quick escape routes in emergencies when backtracking is impossible.

Save your Chain Launchers for the Kiln, the final level in PEAK. Some of the climbs here are incredibly challenging. Even with tools like Big Lollipops and Pitons, certain sections can feel nearly impossible. A single Chain Launcher can bypass multiple tough climbs, making it an absolute must-have.
