Pentiment director Josh Sawyer thinks that it's "possible" for the critically-acclaimed game to one day come to the Nintendo Switch. Pentiment is one of the latest games from Obsidian Entertainment, an Xbox-owned studio that is currently working on the big upcoming exclusive game Avowed.

Obsidian has proven to be one of Xbox's stronger studio acquisitions, having already shipped two games under the Xbox umbrella as Xbox console exclusive games with at least two more in the pipeline. Obsidian's survival game Grounded has proven to be quite popular, while Pentiment is an award-winning game that's earned high review scores from critics. Currently, the only way to play Pentiment is on PC, Xbox One, or Xbox Series X, but considering the game's acclaim, it's understandable that some fans want to see it come to other platforms.

Pentiment Soundtrack Available on Streaming Platforms, Vinyl Announced

Pentiment fans can now listen to the game's soundtrack anywhere they go, and soon they'll be able to hear it on vinyl as well.

Pentiment director Josh Sawyer recently told Touch Arcade that it's possible for the game to come to the Nintendo Switch. Sawyer said that he doesn't think that there are any technical limitations preventing a Switch version of Pentiment, and that he would like to see the game "be on as many platforms as possible." Since Pentiment is an Xbox-owned game, it seems unlikely that it will be ported to other platforms, but Xbox and Nintendo do seem to have a fairly positive relationship.

Xbox has already released some of its games on the Nintendo Switch, like Ori and the Blind Forest as well as the sequel, Ori and the Will of the Wisps. Nintendo and Xbox have also carved out deals with each other to feature Xbox-owned characters and games on the Switch in various capacities. For instance, Xbox-owned Banjo and Kazooie were added to the Super Smash Bros. Ultimate roster, as was Steve from Minecraft. Plus, GoldenEye 007 and Banjo-Kazooie are both readily available through the Switch Online Expansion Pack service despite the games having been developed by Xbox's Rare.

For those unfamiliar with Pentiment, it's a narrative-driven game that has players investigating 16th century murders, making important dialogue choices that can influence the story. Pentiment earned mostly positive reviews from critics at the time of its original release in 2022, with praise for its unique premise and gripping story. Nintendo Switch gamers may or may not ever get to play it on their platform of choice, but those with a PC or Xbox console handy can try it out easily. Like all Xbox first-party games, Pentiment is on Xbox Game Pass, so gamers can play through it in its entirety without actually buying the game outright.

Pentiment is out now for PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
