Throughout the Persona series, social stats have always been a must for players interested in getting the most out of every part of the game. Increasing the social stats of the playable character in each game allows the player a multitude of new options to explore, but one of the most useful options this unlocks for the player is unlocking Social Links. Social Links are necessary for players interested in gaining new skills and, more importantly, new Persona.
In Persona 3 and Persona 3 Portable, one social stat that the player can increase is Courage. This can be done in several different ways, and this guide will highlight each of them so that players are able to get the most out of their gameplay. This guide will also focus primarily on the updated version of the game, Persona 3 Portable.
What Ranks Are Available To The Player?
In some other social stats, such as Charm, players will find that there is a big difference between which protagonist they use - from titles given to the player to the Social Links that they can unlock. Unfortunately, players will have to once more remember the differences in Social Links available to the player depending on the gender of the protagonist, as they change depending on whether players pick the female protagonist or the male protagonist.
If players pick the male protagonist, the Social Links they can achieve include Mutatsu at Rank 2, Mamoru Hayase at Rank 4, and Fuuka Yamagishi at Rank 6. For female protagonists, Social Links include Fuuka Yamagishi at Rank 2, Mutatsu at Rank 4, and Ken Amada at Rank 6. Thankfully - unlike the Charm Social Links - both protagonists will achieve three Links each. However, the rate at which these Links can be achieved can make a big difference to gameplay, so choose carefully.
In total, the ranks available for the player character are:
- Timid
- Ordinary
- Determined
- Tough
- Fearless
- Badass
How To Increase Courage
There are plenty of options to partake in for players interested in increasing their courage as quickly as possible. Unfortunately, the options to raise Courage are slightly limited compared to gaining points when compared to Academics and Charm, as they both allow the player to gain points passively just by attending class or answering questions. Still, it won't be difficult for many players to max out their Courage stat even if they play casually, as there are plenty of options to partake in for players interested in increasing their courage as quickly as possible:
- Visiting Wild-Duck Burger after school on any day except Thursday for +3 Courage. Costs 500 Yen.
- Visiting Club Mandragora after school or during the evening on any day except Fridays and Saturdays for +2 Courage. Costs 800 Yen.
- Visiting Screen Shot Theater after school on even-numbered months for +4 Courage. Costs 1500 Yen.
- Visiting the Summer Film Festival on August 18, 26, and 27 for +4 Courage. This will also improve Social Links.
- Visiting the Nurse's Office in school for +2 Courage. This can also be useful for players who want to farm recovery items.
