In Persona 5/Royal, Seiten Taisei was Ryuji Sakmoto's secondPersona, which is unlocked upon reaching Rank 10 of his Confidant. Stat and Affinity-wise, Seiten Taisei in Persona 3 Reload isn't too different from his Persona 5 version. He has good Attack and Endurance, but he also has Zio/Electric Skills that can be used for Downing enemies that have an Affinity Weakness. Unfortunately, Seiten Taisei is also DLC-exclusive, meaning you'll need to purchase the Royal DLC Set for Persona 3 Reload before he can be summoned from the compendium in the Velvet Room.

You will need to purchase the Persona 5 Royal Persona Set 2 in order to get Seiten Taisei in Persona 3 Reload. The cost is $5.99, or you can get the entire Persona 5 DLC Sets for $26.99. After the DLC has been added to your game, you can summon Seiten Taisei in the Velvet Room for free. This is a one-time free purchase per playthrough.

If you'd prefer, you can use Fusion to get Seiten Taisei. This is recommended if you're looking to transfer specific Physical/Magic Skills or Passive Skills. You can then register the newly-fused Seiten Taisei to the compendium.

Seiten Taisei's base level is 40. If you're summoning/fusing him for the first time, you can obtain him regardless of how low your level is. Stat-wise, Seiten Taisei's boons are his Strength and Endurance, making him a good physical attacker and capable of taking a few hits from enemies. His poor Magic means he won't make a good Magic Attacker (unless you level up his Magic stat).

  • Seiten Taisei already has some good Passive Skills with Auto Rebellion and Auto Tarukaja. However, it's advised to give him something like Resist Wind or Evade Wind to nullify his Wind-Affinity weakness.
  • Since Seiten Taisei is a physical attacker, you can use Skill Cards to give him heavy/severe Pierce or Strike-damaging Skills. One example is Vorpal Blade, which is obtained from the J/Q Skill Cards from Shuffle Time.
  • Gigantic Fist can be swapped out for a severe-damaging Strike Skill that damages one or all opponents.
  • Another recommended Skill is Null Rage. Since Rage sharply raises the target's attack at the cost of their accuracy/evasion and defense, a Seiten Taisei inflicted with Rage can be dangerous to its user. If you're not going to have Null Rage, then you may want to have Null Strike/Pierce/Slash in its place. This way, if the enemy has Reflect Strike/Pierce/Slash, the protagonist won't be damaged.
  • Regenerate 3 can be good for Seiten Taisei. This will restore a percentage of HP every turn, which can be helpful if you're using Seiten Taisei for physical attacks.
  • Ali Dance is a Skill that halves the accuracy of an opponent that targets the user, making it very useful when building Personas. You can get it as a Skill Card in the Adamah Block.

Is Seiten Taisei Worth Using?

Seiten Taisei vs. Captain Kidd

If you’ve purchased both Persona 5 Royal Persona Sets DLC, then you’ll have both of Ryuji’s Personas: Seiten Taisei and Captain Kidd. You can use either one, but Captain Kidd’s starting level is lower than Seiten Taisei’s by quite a lot. You’ll also notice that Captain Kidd’s Skills are weaker, dealing “medium damage” at the most.

Here are some things to keep in mind:

Seiten Taisei
  • Seiten Taisei has a Resistance to Fire. This means he’ll only take a quarter damage from Fire-Affinity attacks. Captain Kidd does not have any Resistances.
  • Seiten Taisei’s Skill Set is mostly “physical-skill based” with Deathbound and Gigantic Fist. He also has the Auto Mataru and Auto Rebellion passive Skills.
  • Seiten Taisei has access to Charge. This is a Must-Have for most physical attackers.

Captain Kidd
  • If you want a Persona to target Zio-Affinity weakness, then the better choice is Captain Kidd. This is because Kidd does not have Wild Thunder which, while powerful, drains a lot of the user’s SP. Instead, Captain Kidd will have Skills like Mazio and Zionga.
  • Captain Kidd has Elec Driver and Shock Boost, further supporting that he can potentially be a better Persona for Downing those weak to Electric over Seiten Taisei.
  • Captain Kidd has more flexibility when creating a build for him. However, this is due to Seiten Taisei’s Skill Set being ideal for the type of Persona that he is.
  • Captain Kidd, being a lower-level Persona, is easier to Fuse for beginner players.

Ultimately, the decision comes down to each player individually. There are pros and cons to both Seiten Taisei and Captain Kidd, but the one thing you'll want to remember when deciding is that Captain Kidd has more Zio Skills, and Seiten Taisei has more Physical Skills. You can even have both in your lineup if you want, and they both make decent substitutes for Akihiko during combat.
