Fans of the female protagonist from Persona 3 Portable will be disappointed to hear she's never coming to Persona 3 Reload. Kotone Shiomi is the official name given to the character by Atlus, though the community has taken to calling her FeMC over the years. While Persona 3 Reload offered the perfect opportunity for her to appear, ideally as a playable character, it appears that won't be happening.
Fans have held out hope that the female protagonist would appear in Persona 3 Reload for a long time, hinging on the idea that the game is a dream-come-true situation for a remake. To many, it would make sense to include as many beloved aspects of the Persona 3 universe as possible in a title that pays so much attention to detail. The fans of FeMC have been passionately pleading their case to have the character appear in the game's remake, and producer Kazuhisa Wada has a response.
Multiple Persona Games Drop to Historically Low Steam Prices
Many Persona games are available at historically low prices over the next week as part of the series' newly debuted Steam sale.
According to PC Gamer, Persona series producer Kazuhisa Wada has gone on record to state that the female protagonist will "likely never" be added to the game. Wada spoke to Game Informer in an interview before the magazine was shuttered, dedicating some time to discussing the likelihood of the FeMC's appearance. Wada told the publication that "the development time and costs would not have been imaginable," laying out the reality that, from a financial standpoint, it wasn't feasible to Atlus. Wada expressed his sincere apologies to fans who have been waiting to hear more about FeMC.
Persona 3 Reload Producer Apologizes To FeMC Fans
The FeMC has seen a lot of hype since her first appearance, and many Persona fans agree that that's justified. Her addition is one of the more unique aspects of Persona 3 Portable, the edition of the game made for the PSP, which offered the female protagonist as a way to change several story beats and even alter the title's music. For many fans, FeMC was a must when it came to this remake, as she would add more replayability and depth to the experience.
If the fans can't have the FeMC in the Persona 3 Reload officially , they'll take matters into their own hands. Players banded together to create the FeMC Reloaded Project, which swaps out the protagonist's character model and tweaks UI elements, envisioning a Reload version featuring many elements from FeMC's side of Persona 3 Portable. It seems that for now, players who want an official Persona game with a female protagonist will have to go back to Persona 2, Persona 3 Portable, or simply hope that Persona 6 features one in the future.
