Persona 3 Reload features a huge range of collectible items that players will encounter during their time in Tartarus and the greater game world. At first, the sheer volume of these items can be overwhelming, especially in the game's early sections, before many of Persona 3 Reload's most important mechanics have been revealed. While several of these items turn out to be nothing more than a means to make money, there are a few select collectibles that are used to complete important tasks.
Persona 3 Reload: Supreme Hand Weakness
The Supreme Hand is a rare and difficult shadow to defeat in Persona 3 Reload. Check out this guide to learn its weakness, and how you can beat it.
Black Quartz is one of P3R's important collectibles, and has several uses over the course of the game. While it is incredibly rare in the early-to-mid sections, collecting it will become significantly easier as the game plays out. This guide will explain the best times to begin searching for Black Quartz, how to efficiently farm it, and what it can be used for.
How to Get Black Quartz in Persona 3 Reload
Which Enemies Give Black Quartz?
Finding Black Quartz in Persona 3 Reload is mainly a matter of patience. There will be a distinct moment where it will seem like the item will go from practically nonexistent, to readily available. The trick is to know when this change occurs, or, more specifically, which floor in Tartarus it occurs on.
Black Quartz is available in the mid-to-upper regions of Arqa, the second main region of Tartarus. After the 54th Floor, players will begin to encounter the Lustful Snake Formidable Shadow. In this form, the Lustful Snake will always reward the player with a Black Quartz upon defeat. The Lustful Snake will appear later as a common shadow, though it will not offer a Black Quartz when defeated in this form.
Black Quartz will also come from a variety of Formidable Shadows going forward, such as the Jotun of Power. Going up against Formidable Shadows will be the most reliable way to acquire Black Quartz.
Other Ways to Get Black Quartz:
Currently, the only other known way to get Black Quartz is through the treasure chests that give off a golden light. These chests are found in the upper levels of Arqa and beyond, and will always reward players with gem-based materials for use at the Antique Store. While Black Quartz is an incredibly rare reward, it can be found in these chests.
What to Do With Black Quartz in Persona 3 Reload
Elizabeth's Request 29:
The first time players are likely to need a Black Quartz is while attempting to complete Elizabeth's 29th request, 'I Want to Look Fashionable.' Here, the player must offer a single Black Quartz to the Luxury Shopkeeper in Club Escapade in order to purchase a special pair of fashionable sunglasses for ten thousand yen (instead of a much higher price).
The player must have at least Ordinary Courage (Rank 2) to enter Club Escapade at night. Once inside, head to the bar to find the Luxury Shopkeeper. His shop is marked with a diamond on the minimap. There is no reason not to hand over the Black Quartz here.
Fusing Weapons and Crafting Items:
Black Quartz is also a key component of Persona 3 Reload's weapon fusing mechanic. Once Mayoido Antiques open on July 18th, players will have the ability to craft a wide range of powerful weapons, armor, footwear, and accessories using the gems they have collected. These items are some of the most powerful in Persona 3 Reload.
